Arpon Basu’s turn to say that the Hawks really like Artyom Levshunov

Will the Blackhawks choose a forward or a defenseman in the next draft?

Macklin Celebrini – barring an exceptional surprise – will no longer be available when Chigago officials take the stage to announce their 2nd-round draftpick… And there are two names that come up a lot when we talk about the Blackhawks’ selection.

Obviously, there’s Ivan Demidov’s, because he’s seen as the 2nd-best forward in the 2024 draft, but there’s also Artyom Levshunov’s name.

Arpon Basu waded into the mock draft today on BPM Sports, and for him, the logical choice for the Hawks would be Levshunov.

The journalist maintains that Chicago could take advantage of the opportunity to build their defense with the player from Belarus… Especially since the Hawks have reportedly been eyeing Levshunov en masse in recent months:

I’ve heard that the Blackhawks followed him around a lot at Michigan State this year. He’s a right-handed defenseman who’s tall, big, mobile… He’s my pick for the Blackhawks. – Arpon Basu

It might make sense because many are calling Levshunov the best defenseman in the upcoming draft.

And when you look at his highlights from last NCAA season… It’s easy to see why:

The Hawks’ selection will have an impact on the Habs’ selection at No. 5.

After all, if the Ducks (3rd) or the Blue Jackets (4th) do as the Blackhawks did and decide to take a defenseman…

Kent Hughes and his group of assistants will have the opportunity to get their hands on Ivan Demidov or Cayden Lindstrom, two players who are truly appreciated within the Montreal organization.

That said, Arpon Basu’s words were worth sharing, because this isn’t the first time the Hawks’ love for Levshunov has come to light.

A few days ago, Corey Pronman shared a similar rant:

There’s about a little less than a month to go before we’re in front of our screens watching the first round of the upcoming draft.

That said, if I had an old $2 to bet right now… I’d put my money on Artyom Levshunov hearing his name called at #2, with everything we’ve been hearing about him for the past few days.

And if so, it would be great for Kent Hughes and the Habs.

In gusto

– Did they forget that Andrei Vasilevskiy won it in 2021?

– Huh!

– A little Montreal CF victory tonight for the Brazilian player’s birthday?

– It seems to me that it’s not complicated to understand…
