The 1% For The Planet organisation has released a first music compilation, asking some forty-odd musicians to participate in the online initiative. The album is intended to accelerate the movement by involving more people and encouraging more companies to join.

Released last week on Amazon.com, and placing at first position for best-selling mp3s, the 1% For The Planet album comprises 41 songs for $9.99. Among the contributing artists are big names, such as Jack Johnson and Jackson Browne. We also find Angelique Kidjo, The Submarines, Joseph Arthur and Erika Wheeler, to name a few.

Profits will go towards several environmental non-profits worldwide. Currently, over 1 200 corporations have donated 1% of their sales to the environmental organisation.

1% For The Planet is now available on iTunes, and can also be downloaded through music.onepercentfortheplanet.org.
