Simpson has announced the date for the third album via Geffen Records. The disc will include singles produced by Timbaland and the Neptunes’ Chad Hugo, reported Billboard.
Tom Higginson, singer of the pop rock group Plain White T’s, also collaborated on a single entitled Little Miss Obsessive.
Simpson, who was born in 1984, admitted that she was inspired by the 1980s when creating her album. "I almost wish I lived my 20s in the ’80s. A lot of the record is a bit cheeky. Sometimes I’m writing about something serious, but it was fun for me to kind of goof around as well," she explained.
The singles Little Miss Obsessive and Out of My Head have yet to land on any Billboard charts. However, Out of My Head has sold 117 000 legal digital downloads since December.
Simpson will be performing on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars on April 22, and will be going on tour this summer.
