Atlantic City brings back stage shows

New Jersey casinos begin offering Vegas-style shows.

Casinos in Atlantic City, New Jersey, are bringing back Vegas-style stage shows in an attempt to better market themselves, reports msnbc.com.

Atlantic City is the second-largest gambling destination in the U.S., but with more states building casinos, the New Jersey resorts are going back to basics to draw in tourists.

"We’ll get more people into the places with these shows and create new excitement. That’s our leg up on Pennsylvania and surrounding markets," explained Don Marrandino of Caesar’s Entertainment.

So far, seven of the city’s 11 casinos either offer regular stage shows or are working on developing them. Often, the tickets are given to hotel guests as a marketing ploy.

"The value … is being felt from a gaming and food and beverage revenue standpoint. We do pretty well with it. And it creates a sense of excitement and energy for the customers," said Dennis Gomes, president of Resorts Casino Hotel.
