Hailey Bieber sells her beauty brand for $1B

Make-up and skincare brand Rhode, founded by Hailey Bieber, is to be acquired by US company e.l.f. Beauty for around US$1 billion. This strategic acquisition enables the affordable cosmetics giant to penetrate the more upscale market, while partnering with an influential celebrity among Generation Z and millennials.

The buyout includes an initial payment of $800 million, split between cash and shares, with the possibility of a further $200 million depending on the brand’s future performance. Completion of the transaction is scheduled for the second quarter of fiscal 2026.

Known for its low-priced products sold in places like Walmart, Target and Shoppers Drug Mart, e.l.f. (acronym for eyes, lips, face) is looking to expand its offering into more prestigious products. The acquisition of Rhode thus marks a major strategic shift for the company, which had already bought the Naturium skincare brand for $355 million in 2023.

Launched in 2022, Rhode quickly made a name for itself with products that went viral on TikTok, such as its $18 peptide lip treatment. In one year, the brand generated some $212 million in revenues, solely via its official website and ephemeral boutiques.

Hailey Bieber, 28, will remain deeply involved in Rhode’s development. She announced on Instagram that she would become the brand’s Chief Creative Officer and Head of Innovation, in addition to acting as strategic advisor to e.l.f. Beauty.

Big news for Taylor Swift, who celebrates with fans

It’s great news for Taylor Swift fans: the singer has just regained complete control of her entire discography. In a handwritten letter published this Friday on her official website.

After years of disputes over the ownership of her original recordings, Taylor has succeeded in buying back the rights to her masters, previously held by Big Machine Records, then by the investment company Shamrock Capital. The amount of the transaction has not been revealed, but the move marks a decisive turning point in her career.

Since 2019, the interpreter of Enchanted had embarked on an ambitious project: re-recording her first six albums after the acquisition of her masters by Scooter Braun, a producer with whom she had a long-standing feud.

This sale had deeply shocked the singer.

She then began releasing new versions of her old albums under the Taylor’s Version label, with colossal success. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version) were released in 2021, followed by Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in 2023 – all of which reached number one on the Billboard 200. These versions are not simply copies, but are accompanied by previously unreleased tracks, winks to fans and a new, polished production.

In her letter, Swift also shares that she has not yet re-recorded all her music. She does say, however, that she has finalized the new version of her eponymous debut album, which she says she loves in its current version. As for Reputation (Taylor’s Version), speculation is rife, especially as several extracts have recently been heard in series such as The Handmaid’s Tale and Wilderness.

The artist confides that her greatest dream has always been to fully own her art, without compromise or partnership. She thanks Shamrock Capital for making this acquisition possible under what she describes as fair and respectful conditions.

Justin Bieber baffles fans talking about God, rats and Alaska in bizarre video

Singer Justin Bieber, 31, caused concern among his fans this week after posting – and then deleting – a series of disturbing videos on Instagram. Using a filter distorting his face and voice, the Sorry performer delivered a rambling speech in which he evoked memories of fishing in Alaska, his faith in God, rats… and enigmatic life principles.

In this sequence of 13 stories, picked up by TMZ, we see the artist enthusiastically recounting his time in Alaska as a teenager.

These remarks fueled speculation about the star’s mental and physical state, already the subject of concern in recent months. Her behavior online and at public appearances has raised questions, including about possible drug use.

A Justin Bieber representative, however, firmly denied the allegations in February, calling the rumors “pitiful” and asserting that the artist was doing well, especially since the birth of his son, Jack Blues, in August 2024, with his wife Hailey Bieber.

But last week, Justin shared a photo of himself smoking a glass water pipe, which only intensified his fans’ concerns.

Amber Heard is a mom again!

Amber Heard has just unexpectedly and happily expanded her family.

At 39, the American actress has given birth to twins, a boy and a girl named Ocean and Agnes. They are her second and third children.

She is already the mother of a little girl, Oonagh Paige, who turned 4 last April.

Amber Heard shared the news on Instagram this May 11, on the occasion of Mother’s Day. In it, she expressed her immense joy:

The birth of her first daughter, Oonagh Paige Heard, was announced on Instagram in July 2021. In her post, the actress revealed that she had made the decision to have a child “on her own terms”, having matured this choice for four years.

Amber Heard’s family life has run parallel to a highly exposed personal and media career, not least because of her relationship with Johnny Depp. This explosive divorce would give rise to a long, high-profile legal battle, culminating in two high-profile trials between 2020 and 2022, in the USA and the UK. The affair deeply divided public opinion and had a major impact on their respective careers.

Since the end of these proceedings, Amber Heard has chosen to retire from Hollywood.

In 2022, she moved to Madrid, where she now leads a more discreet, family-oriented life.

In an interview with NBC in June 2022, she confided her happiness at being able to devote herself fully to her role as a mother.

Director Conor Allyn, who worked with her in 2023 on the film In the Fire, confided to PEOPLE that she seemed to be “living her best life in Spain with her daughter”, adding that she was “a very devoted mother” and always attentive to spending quality time with her children.

Disturbing alleged stalker of Jennifer Aniston charged

A man accused of breaking down the gate of actress Jennifer Aniston’s Los Angeles home has been charged with stalking and vandalism.

Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, originally from New Albany, Mississippi, is suspected of repeatedly sending unsolicited messages to the Friends star since March 2023, via voicemail, e-mail and social networks.

Carwyle, 48, allegedly crashed his car into the front gate of Jennifer’s Bel Air home on Monday, May 5. Prosecutors said the collision caused extensive property damage and that the 56-year-old actress was at home at the time, reports the New York Times.

According to the LAPD, a private security guard intercepted Carwyle in the driveway of the property before law enforcement arrived, who immediately took him into custody. On Thursday, prosecutors confirmed that Carwyle was facing charges of stalking and aggravated vandalism, with an aggravating circumstance related to threatening to cause serious bodily injury.

The actress has yet to comment on the incident, and no injuries have been reported. At his preliminary hearing on Thursday, Carwyle pleaded not guilty. Shirtless, he appeared wrapped in a blanket behind the glass of the dock!

The judge and prosecutors expressed doubts about his mental capacity to understand the proceedings, temporarily suspending the criminal process pending psychiatric evaluation.

A new hearing is scheduled for May 22 before the mental health court.

His bail has been set at $150,000, and he is strictly forbidden to make contact with Jennifer Aniston, approach her home or possess weapons, even if paroled.

Kim Kardashian shocks by posing on a Tesla

Kim Kardashian is making headlines again, this time because of a controversial photo shoot.

For the magazine Perfect, the reality TV star was captured by famous photographer Steven Klein, lying on a now infamous Cybertruck from Tesla.

If the aesthetic of the series impressed some, others quickly became outraged.

In the comments under Kim Kardashian’s posts, many users expressed their discontent.

The controversy stems from the fact that Tesla is a brand increasingly being boycotted for various reasons.

First, many consumers reject the company due to the controversial personality of its CEO, Elon Musk, criticized for his political stance and Twitter management decisions (now X).

Then, the brand has been pointed out for quality and safety issues with its vehicles, as well as its labor practices.

Kim Kardashian, often seen as a luxury and influence icon, probably expected to make an impact with this photo shoot.

But this time, the reception was not what she had hoped for.

A$AP Rocky jumped into Rihanna’s arms after his verdict

The American rapper A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was acquitted on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, by a Los Angeles court of two criminal charges of assault with a semi-automatic weapon. This verdict concludes a three-week trial that could have resulted in a prison sentence exceeding 20 years.

At the moment the clerk announced the not-guilty verdict, A$AP Rocky rushed into the arms of his partner Rihanna, who was attending the hearing alongside the rapper’s mother and sister. The courtroom, filled with fans and loved ones, erupted in cheers.

The jury took only three hours to deliberate in reaching this verdict, thus sparing the rapper a potentially heavy sentence. “Thank you all for saving my life,” he told the jurors before their departure.

The charges stemmed from an altercation that occurred in November 2021 in Hollywood between A$AP Rocky and Terell Ephron, aka A$AP Relli, a former member of the A$AP Mob collective. The prosecution claimed that Rocky fired a semi-automatic weapon, slightly injuring Ephron’s hand. The defense, on the other hand, argued that the weapon used was a replica gun firing blank rounds, employed as a deterrent during an attack against another group member.

No material evidence could confirm the existence of a real weapon. Rocky’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, labeled Ephron a “pathological liar” and claimed that he was trying to extort his client.

On the eve of the trial, A$AP Rocky had rejected an offer from the prosecutor that proposed six months in prison in exchange for a guilty plea.

Prosecutor Nathan Hochman reacted to the verdict by stating:

“Our office remains committed to ensuring that individuals who break the law are held accountable, regardless of their status or influence. Celebrity does not place anyone above the law, and we will not waver in our pursuit of justice for the victims and the community.”

Now freed from legal threats, he can focus on his artistic and family projects with Rihanna and their two young children.
