Will Barbie dethrone LEGO and Nintendo for Christmas?

Barbie seems to be a favorite on Santa’s list this year!

Created in 1959, the famous Barbie doll is experiencing a resurgence in popularity since 2020, after two decades of decline.

And her gain in popularity is so significant, she could dethrone the two best-selling Christmas gifts, Nintendo and LEGO, reports The Mirror, based on data collected from toy retailers.

2023 will also be an exceptional year for the doll, as she will have her own movie with Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken!

If Barbie becomes the most popular toy this year, Mattel will be able to boast of a real achievement, since Nintendo and LEGO seemed to be indestructible until recently.

The love affair with Barbie continues!

Metallica back at the Olympic Stadium!

The mythical band Metallica will launch its 11th album on April 14th and it will be called 72 Seasons.

A first track entitled Lux Æterna has been dropped on this Monday (November 28th), and it is very striking.

On top of that, the metal band that has been rolling its hump since the 80’s has announced that it will offer two shows at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, on August 11th and 13th!

Let’s remember that 30 years ago, on August 8, 1992, Metallica was at the Olympic Stadium with Guns N’ Roses and that this concert marked the imagination of the fans and the history of rock in Quebec.

The pyrotechnic incident that burned James Hetfield and the attitude of Axl Rose, who suddenly stopped the performance of Guns N’ Roses, had even caused a riot in Montreal!

In addition to these two concerts in Montreal, Metallica will be in Amsterdam, Mexico City, Munich, Warsaw and Madrid, and will return to Canada in 2024, near Edmonton.

Note that Pantera will be opening for the show scheduled on August 11.

The track Rich Flex alone already has close to 130 million listens… that’s phenomenal!

Harry Styles is also still dominant in Canada, with his song As It Was being the most streamed song on Spotify in Canada, while his album Harry’s House is at the top of the list of most listened to albums in the country.

MTL’s SWAT kicks down wrong door, arrest wrong man

The SPVM’s tactical group (SWAT) certainly traumatized a couple by entering their residence… only to find out it was the wrong one.

The Journal de Montréal reported that Marc-André Asselin and Sabrina Landry were sleeping comfortably during the night of November 16-17, before being suddenly awakened by the SWAT team who broke down their front door by mistake.

In fact, the individual sought was the tenant of the outraged Montérégie couple, who were understandably disconcerted to experience such an event.

The search of the wrong residence seems to have lasted several minutes before the police realized that they were in the wrong place. They searched the house, asking for the couple’s names and dates of birth, while handcuffing the man of the house, according to Sabrina Landry’s testimony.

A 70 pound goldfish!

Andy Hackett is a 42 year old British fisherman, and he managed to catch a monster goldfish, which is nicknamed The Carrot. A monster fish approaching 70 pounds (67 pounds), the largest of its kind!

Never get bored of seeing her go back 🥕🥕🥕🥕

Posted by Bluewater Lakes on Thursday, November 3, 2022

Hackett found himself in Bluewater Lakes, a place where carp fishing is very popular. However, for the past few years, this huge red fish has been swimming in the waters of this lake and no one was able to catch it… until Hackett.

This fish is called “goldfish”, but in fact, it is a hybrid species of leather carp and koi carp. This hybrid format can be found in many ponds.

The Carrot is 20 years old, and would have been placed in the Bluewater about 15 years ago. The original intent was to allow anglers the challenge of catching it (and then releasing it).

Of course, Hackett called his experience awesome and lucky, taking 30 minutes before he managed to bring it back to him.

Prior to this catch by Hackett, the record belonged to Jason Fugate, who caught a 30-pound goldfish in 2019.
