Complaint Filed Against Richard Gere

Gere, who publicly showed affection to the Indien actress Shilpa Shetty, has caused outrage in the country, where such gestures are not acceptable.

The incident took place last weekend.  Gere was in India to participate in an anti-AIDS event.  While on stage with Shetty, Gere gave a hug and a kiss on the cheek to the actress.  Such displays of affection in public are taboo in India.

Three lawyers have filed lawsuits against both the actor and the actress.  A spokesperson for Shilpa Shetty said, "The media should concentrate on the promotion of the cause of AIDS awareness rather than making an issue out of kisses."

Threats On Angelina Jolie

The star was working on the film A Mighty Heart when she was alerted that terrorist threats had been made regarding a kidnapping of her children.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly magazine, the actress confessed that the ordeal was very difficult for her.  Despite her fear, Jolie was determined not to let panic take over.  She explained, "If things got too heavy, there’d be a place for me to cry by myself."

As if the kidnapping threats weren’t enough, a journalist also printed a story suggesting that Jolie and her partner, Brad Pitt, were headed for a breakup.  The two will soon demonstrate how happy they are at the premieres of the films Ocean’s Thirteen and A Mighty Heart.

Chris Rock Doubts His Paternity

According to a Georgia woman, the star of the films Madagascar, The Longest Yard and Head of State, among others, is the father of her son.  Kali Bowyer is demanding that Rock "contribute to the support, maintenance, and education".

A lawyer for the 42 year-old actor has not commented on whether Rock had a relationship with the woman.  Rock is married and is the father of two children.

No Marriage for Harrison Ford

Contrary to reports in Grazia magazine’s April 1 edition, the two stars are not planning a wedding.  Representatives for each have denied the story.

Ford and Flockhart have been dating for five years.

On June 18, Ford will begin filming the fourth film of the adventures of Indiana Jones under the direction of Steven Spielberg.

A New Release Date for Velvet Revolver

Libertad was originally to be launched in May, however the date has now been pushed to July 3.  The first single from the album, She Builds Quick Machines, is one of the four songs that the band has already performed in public.

The band’s bassist, Duff McKagan, told Billboard magazine that he’s happy with the song, saying, "It’s a great f*ckin’ rock song. It has a kick-ass guitar riff, a great chorus, a really big bridge and a great Slash solo."

"I think ‘Contraband’ was a great record," he says of Velvet Revolver’s 2004 debut. "It was the right one for us to make as our first record. But ‘Libertad’ really goes way beyond that musically. I don’t think any of us could have made a better record at this point in our careers."

Paris Hilton Returns to Court

The star will be in court for breaking the conditions of her probation on May 4.

The city of Los Angeles charges that Hilton was driving her car while on a suspended driver’s license.  If found guilty, Hilton may be sentenced to 90 days in prison.

The Live Earth Concert Ticket Frenzy

The event, which has been organised to bring awareness to the problems of global warming, has been met with much enthusiasm in London.  In only 72 hours, more than 200,000 people registered for an opportunity to own one of the only 60,000 tickets available.

The show will include performances by Madonna, James Blunt, Red Hot Chili Peppers and seventeen other artists.

In addition to London, six other cities will hold simultaneous concerts on July 7.

Bruce Springsteen Prepares New DVD

On June 5, the DVD Bruce Springsteen with The Sessions Band Live In Dublin will be available in stores.  The DVD will include 23 songs that were performed in front of a live audience last November.

The footage was filmed during the three shows that took place on November 17, 18, and 19 at The Point.  Springsteen performed many of his biggest hits, and rarely recorded performances.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony Aren’t Laughing

The two stars have each filed separate lawsuits against the tabloid for reporting that they are involved in drug trafficking.  The paper and its parent company, American Media Inc., are being sued by the two stars in Belfast, London, Dublin and Paris.

Lopez and Anthony are asking for an apology and a printed retraction of the story that appeared last March.

Lawyers for the two stars chose to file their cases in Europe instead of the US.  In the United States, it’s nearly impossible to celebrities to win cases as such.

Clive Owen Plans Next Film

The film will be directed by Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run) and follows the life of an obssessive agent who is investigating corruption at the most influential banks of the world. 

Filming for The International is set to begin in September in Europe.
