Joaquin Phoenix Escapes Serious Injury

According to Us Weekly who broke the news of the 31 year-old actor’s accident, he was very lucky.  ”His brakes went out and the car flipped over,” the actor’s publicist, Susan Patricola, told the magazine. ”But he’s doing fine. He may be very sore in the morning, but right now he is doing okay.”

Although the accident was very serious, Phoenix was not hospitalised.  His exact injuries are not known, although they appear not to be severe.

Joaquin Phoenix won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film Walk the Line.

Tom Cruise Tops the Earner’s List

According to Quigley Publishing Co., Cruise has topped the list for the seventh time in his career.  Since 1932, the list of the highest paid people of cinema has been compiled, and the top 10 revenue earners have been named.

Johnny Depp was second on the list, and ironically, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are tied for the third place spot.  The remaining celebrities, in earnings order, are Vince Vaughn, George Clooney, Will Smith, Reese Witherspoon, Adam Sandler and Tom Hanks.

Jennifer Aniston Wants to Write a Book

According to the Daily Mirror, the actress kept a private diary during her marriage to Pitt, which she may use to write her book.

Aniston has said that she has no regrets from the past year, stating that 2005 was full of emotions and growth.  Her marriage to Brad Pitt fell apart when he fell into the arms of actress Angelina Jolie.  Since that time, Pitt has adopted the two children of the actress, and she is now pregnant with his child.

More Stars to Perform at the Grammy’s

Coldplay and Bruce Springsteen are the latest stars to join the performers for the show.  There is also a tribute planned for the legendary R&B group Sly & the Family Stone.  Other stars that will be making the scene are Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, Joss Stone, John Legend, Maroon 5, Robert Randolph and Devin Lima.

The Grammy Awards will be presented live from the Los Angeles Staples Center on February 8.

Bono Launches a New Fight Against Aids

The initiative is called the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, and it will sell products under the name Red.

American Express, Converse, Gap and Giorgio Armani have all joined Bono in the initiative and will be selling products from the Red line.  A portion of the proceeds will be spent on fighting AIDS and malaria in Africa.  American Express is creating an exclusive Red credit card, and hopes to distribute the cards to four million clients in the next three years.

Converse will be creating a line of shoes made from African materials.  The Gap will sell t-shirts made from African material, and Armani will design Red sunglasses.

Gwyneth Paltrow Pregnant With a Son

According to In Touch magazine, the star recently revealed the sex of her next child to her friends.  Paltrow and husband, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, have a daughter, Apple, and their son is expected to arrive in the spring.

Paltrow’s mother, actress Blythe Danner, says that the family is elated.  She told In Touch magazine, "I don’t know how much more excited I could be.  Gwyneth is very serene with Apple. I observe her and she is extraordinary."

All Saints Recording New Disc

According to Music Week, the group, which split in February, 2001, has signed a new, long-term contract with EMI to record more albums.  All Saints, a rival of the Spice Girls, reached the number one spot on music charts with their debut album in 1997.

At the moment, the women are working on their third CD, which they hope to release before the end of the year.

All Saints sold more than 10 million discs around the world with their first disc, I Know Where It’s At, in 1997.  Their second recording, Saints and Sinners, was released in 2000.

The star was made a goodwill ambassador of the United Nations Development Fund (Unifem).  Under this title, the 38 year-old actress will promote an end to violence against women and equal rights between sexes.

Thandie Newton is The Next Bond Girl

According to The Sun, Newton, who is know for her roles in Mission: Impossible II, The Chronicles of Riddick and Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles, will star opposite the new James Bond, actor Daniel Craig.

Filming for Casino Royale, the 21st James Bond film, will begin in the Caribbean on January 30.

Alpha Dog is the story of Johnny Truelove, a young drug dealer in the San Gabriel Valley, who kidnaps the younger brother of a man who owes him money.
