A New Star Trek Film In Sight

The producer of the television series, Rick Bergan, would like to make another production for the silver screen in a few years.  He told Britain’s Star Trek Magazine, "I think that time frame for a new, fresh feature with a whole different outlook would be fine."

The first film of the Star Trek series was released in 1979.  The most recent film, Star Trek: Nemesis, the tenth film, was released in 2002.

Wonderwall Named Best British Song

The 1995 song was chosen in a survey of Virgin Radio listeners as the favourite.

Other popular songs included Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven.

The 8,300 participants in the survey also chose 8 songs from both the Beatles and Queen to make it into the top 100 songs of all time.

Here is the list of the songs chosen in the top 10:

Lord of the Rings Wins a New Title

Canadian composer Howard Shore’s music was chosen as the favourite in a public poll taken by British television station ITV.

The soundtrack topped its competition, namely the soundtracks from the films Star Wars and Gladiator, which are both from the composer John Williams.

Before his work on the Rings trilogy, Shore was best known for his music from the films Crash, The Silence of the Lambs, Gangs of New York and The Aviator.  He will be working together with Jackson on his next film, King Kong.

Live 8: Five Concerts Around the Globe

Already, several stars have agreed to perform at the free concerts.  Madonna and Paul McCartney will play in Britain’s capital, while Stevie Wonder, Will Smith, Bon Jovi and Maroon 5 will perform in the U.S.  Duran Duran will be on stage in Rome, and A-ha will perform in Berlin.

In a press conference held Tuesday, Geldof said the event was "not for charity but political justice."

Geldof also told reporters in London that he had asked for the support of Pope Benedict XVI.  "I think he should turn up. It would be his first gig," he said.

The producer was behind the original Live Aid concert in 1985.  To date he has raised more than 73 million dollars to fight hunger in Africa.

Christian Slater Accused of Sexual Harassment

According to his accuser, the assault took place in the street in Manhatten.  The 35 year-old actor made one comment to reporters as he was handcuffed and placed into a police car, "I didn’t do anything."

New York police stated that the incident took place at nearly 2:00 in the morning, and the star was allegedly intoxicated.

The woman, whose identity isn’t being released, went to the police following the assault.

It’s not the first time that Slater has been in trouble with the law.  In August, 1997, he was arrested in Los Angeles for various charges, including assault.  He spent 59 days behind bars of his three-month sentence.

Angelina Jolie Voted Most Beautiful

The survey, conducted by the magazine Harpers and Queen, crowned the Hollywood star as the most beautiful.  Christy Turlington and Queen Rania of Jordan followed Jolie on the list.

Angelina Jolie is currently starring in the film Mr. and Mrs. Smith along with Brad Pitt.  There have been many whispers around town that there is a romantic relationship between the two stars.

Chris Rock and Adam Sandler Reunite

In addition to being the star, Chris Rock co-wrote the comedy.  He will play the role of a limousine driver.

Filming of The Gilmores of Beverly Hills is set to begin in the fall.

Rock and Sandler are currently stars of the box offices with their movies, Madagascar and The Longest Yard.  The two movies were the second and third most popular films last week.  Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

Patrick Stewart’s Health Scare

According to a quote in The Sun, the 64 year-old actor was on the set of his new science-fiction television series when he began having the pains.

Stewart (Star Trek, X-Men) was examined and released from the hospital.

A spokeswoman said: "Patrick is absolutely fine and is back on set working."

Miss Universe is Canadian

The 23 year-old woman from Toronto won the 54th annual competition.  Glebova hopes to bring public attention to further research for AIDS.

Cynthia Olavarria, Miss Puerto Rico, became the runner-up after the final question and answer session.  Miss Puerto Rico was asked what she finds most challenging in her life.  She answered that she tries to stay positive, but staying positive was the biggest challenge of her life.

81 countries were represented at the pageant.

Chris Tucker Quits Rush Hour 3

Tucker had signed a contract at the beginning of the month to star in the third entry series.  The film, which was to also star Jackie Chan, may be trashed completely.

No information has been released as to the reasons for Tucker’s decision.

The actor was supposed to receive 20 million dollars to reprise his role as detective James Carter.
