Lemming to Open at Cannes

Tuesday it was announced that 20 films have been entered into the presitgious European competition which takes place from May 11-22.

The movies chosen are all full-length fiction films.  There aren’t any animated films or documentaries this year, in contrast with last year.

Many great directors will be competing.  David Cronenberg, Atom Egoyan, Jim Jarmusch, Wim Wenders, Lars von Trier, and Gus Van Sant are all in the race.

Accoustic Tour for Alanis Morissette

The tour begins in Toronto on June 7, marking the tenth anniversary of the release of the album Jagged Little Pill.

The six-week tour is promoting the re-release of the album in an accoustical version.  For only 6 weeks, the CD will be sold exclusively in Starbucks coffee shops.

"We’ll play the album from start to finish," the artist told Billboard recently of the summer jaunt, "although we’ll probably play around some with the order. We’ll also throw in some other songs from the last 10 years."

Aside from Toronto, the only other Canadian city the singer will visit will be Vancouver on July 9.

Nick Nolte Giving a Voice to a Bear

The 64 year-old star will give a personality to a bear named Vincent.  The film also stars Bruce Willis, William Shatner, Avril Lavigne and Allison Janney.

Over the Hedge is the story of a racoon and his best friend, a turtle, who think that suburbia is infringing on their territory.

The film is being directed by Tim Johnson, who also worked on the successful Antz.  The release is set for May, 2006.

Usher’s Suitcase Stolen

According to a report in The Sun, the star’s bag was stolen at the Trump International Hotel in New York City.  Usher asked the valet to take care of his luggage.  Later, a man acting as a representative of Usher asked for the bag, and since then it hasn’t been found.

Trump has said that he will reimburse Usher for the loss.

4 Songs for the Fantastic Four

The company Activision, who has the rights to make the video game associated with the film Fantastic Four, has announced the song titles for each character.

Different artists collaborated on the soundtrack.  Error Operator is the song chosen for Mr. Fantastic, which was written by Taking Back Sunday.  The group Go Betty Go gave the song Everywhere to the Invisible Woman.  The Explosion added the song I’m On Fire to be associated with the Human Torch.  The Thing will have the song Clobberin, by Jurassic 5.

Each song will be available on the internet at the end of April or the beginning of May.

The film Fantastic Four will be on screens in July.

Charles and Camilla: The Docu-Drama

Entitled Whatever Love Means, the television movie will be presented on the ITV channel in England.

The film will tell the passionate story of the newlyweds, before Prince Charles married the young Lady Diana Spencer in 1981.  It will begin with how the two met at a polo match in 1970, and how the relationship continued to develop over the years.

Filming is set to begin in May.

Retirement in England for Ozzy

The star, who has spent several years living in Los Angeles, has said that he will leave the United States after finishing his final tour.

The singer explained, "I’m going to go back to Britain. I can’t see me spending the rest of my days in America."

His home in England has had a lot of bad luck during the past six months.  There have been robberies, a fire, and he had an accident there.  When asked about the rumours that his home in Britain is cursed, he said: "That’s a coincidence and doesn’t worry me. When I’ve finished touring, I’m coming home."

Samuel L. Jackson’s Doll Collection

Jackson says, "They’re in my office, in different places. I have a FROZONE doll (from The Incredibles) on my desk that looks down on me as I’m working on the computer."

"I’ve got a Shaft doll that totally looks like me that’s over in the corner looking over at the MACE WINDU (Star Wars) doll. The first Mace Windu doll didn’t look like me at all. Now they look a lot more like me because George (Lucas) actually scanned all of them which means if he really wanted to make another movie 20 years later he could use my digital image.", he added.

Jodie Foster To Play Opposite Denzel Washington

Foster (The Silence of the Lambs, Panic Room), and her male counterparts will work under the direction of Spike Lee (Malcolm X) for the drama that will start production this summer.

Inside Man is the story of a police officer negotiating with a bank robber who has taken hostages.

The 42 year-old actress will play an attorney who arrives on the scene, complicating the negotiation process.

Vinnie Jones To Play in X-Men 3

According to London’s The Sun, Jones (EuroTrip, Swordfish) will have the role of Juggernaut.

Production for X-Men 3 begins in July under the direction of Matthew Vaughn.

Jones and Vaughn have worked together before.  The director was the producer of the film Snatch with Jones and Brad Pitt.

X-Men 3 will be released in May, 2006.
