Oprah Winfrey’s Generosity

According to the New York Post, the star gave the gifts at a party on Sunday to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the publication.

Winfrey also made sure that the gift did not come with a tax bill.  Last year, the host gave away 276 cars on her talk-show, and the winners were excited…until they learned they’d be responsible for the $7,000 in taxes they would have to pay the government.

Demi Moore To Team with Versace?

According to the New York Post, after signing singer Madonna to a contract last month, Versace made a similar offer to Demi Moore for their fall publicity campaign.

Male model Gabriel Aubry was also signed to a deal with the label.

Mel Gibson is Interested in John Paul II

According to the New York Post, Gibson had already begun working on the movie and sent a crew to Rome to film the funeral for the ending.

The Australian star was commended for his film The Passion of the Christ, considered to be one of the most important religious films in the history of film.

Depeche Mode Making New Record

The new disc, untitled, should be in stores next fall.

Singer Dave Gahan spoke with Billboard magazine.  "It’s a great feeling to be back together in the studio again and we are very excited about the new material," he said.

For fans, it’s been a long wait since the last release, Exciter, in 2001.  Last year, their remix compilation sold more than a million copies world wide.

Nirvana To Become History

The trio Nirvana was largely responsible for Grunge music, which first aired in the 90s, will have the disque Nevermind preserved at the library.

The same will be done with the disc Pet Sounds, by The Beach Boys in 1966.  The album has always been considered one of the most popular records of the 21st century.

For jazzman Dizzy Gillespie, the song Manteca, recorded in 1947 will be conserved.  The song was a collaboration with Chano Pozo, and has an Afro-Cuban sound.

Music is not the only thing being entered into the library, the first words of Neil Armstrong when landing on the moon will also be preserved.

Mariah Carey Is Thinking About Kids

In an interview with USA Today, the 35 year-old singer explained, "I think about it. I’m not at the freakout point yet, so it’s about making sure I’m with someone who would be a great father, and that the situation would be right for my child."

"Because being the child of someone who’s in the public eye would probably be difficult." , she added.

Beyonce Knowles in a Musical?

The R&B star is in discussions with Dreamworks for a part in the movie which will be directed by Bill Condon (Kinsey, Chicago).

Filming for the musical is scheduled to begin next autumn in Los Angeles.

Beyonce Knowles will also be starring in the remake of The Pink Panther, with Steve Martin and Kevin Kline.  That film will be in theatres in August.

The Jamie Foxx Influence

Foxx, 37, won an Oscar for his leading role in the film Ray.  He joins Clint Eastwood, Quentin Tarantino, Michael Moore and Johhny Depp who are also influential people from the world of film.

On the musical side, the magazine named Alicia Keys, Jay-Z and Kanye West to the list.

According to Time, these artists of cinema and music have "have won fans everywhere in the world."

The list of the 100 most influential people of 2005 was published Monday.  The list is comprised of politicians, business people, scientists and other personalities across 31 countries.

Last Tour for the Stones

The final tour of the legendary rock group will begin in Boston in August, and will finish in London, 43 years after their first concert in England’s capital.

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, both 61, Charlie Watts, 63, and Ronnie Wood, 57, will be the first band to play at the new Wembley Stadium in the summer of 2006.
