Al-Qaeda Wanted to Kidnap Russell Crowe

The star told Austrailian GQ magazine that he was informed by the American secret service agents informed him of the threat in 2001.  Crowe told the magazine that when told of the threat it "was the first conversation in my life that I’d ever heard the phrase al-Qaeda."

He said the plot involved "taking iconographic Americans out of the picture as a sort of cultural-destabilization plan."

According to the actor, the terrorist plans were discovered during a recorded telephone conversation by French police, in either Libya or Algeria.

Crowe said that he initially thought that this was a complex publicity plan to help him win an Oscar.  Eventually he realised it was a serious threat.

The star attended the Oscar awards that year under heavy surveillance, and won the award for best actor for his role in Gladiator.

The actor continued to be shadowed by FBI agents during the filming of his next two movies, A Beautiful Mind and Master and Commander.

Penelope Cruz Wants to Write a Book

The star, 30, made this announcement in the New York Post.  "I’ve got some great shots from being in situations where normal photographers wouldn’t be. Directors in the bathtub, weird things like that," Cruz told the paper.

Concerning her previous boyfriend Tom Cruise, and her current relationship with Matthew McConaughey, she added, "Tom is a great friend of mine, and he’ll always be my friend. But I didn’t talk about my relationship then, and I don’t talk about my relationship now. It’s my personal life, and I’m responsible to protect it."

Fred Durst Counter Sues for $80 Million

The star, 33, has filed a complaint against the many websites who posted the video on the net.

In the court documents it was revealed that the film was made by Durst, however it was never intended to be viewed by the public, and the video’s exposure is a violation of his privacy.  The singer is suing Gawker Media, owner of several internet sites, for 80 million dollars.

As described in the legal papers, "One or more of the defendants have already broadcast certain images from a very private, intimate bedroom video between two former lovers, Plaintiff and his former girlfriend, while threatening to broadcast or disseminate the entire video."

The attorney for the star has also revealed that American Secret Service agents are investigating the case.

Britney Spears Poses Partially Nude

The star, 23, will be shown topless in the magazine, wearing only a necklace, a gift from her husband Kevin Federline.

The singer will also confess that her six-month marriage has been challenging at times. 

She explains,  "We hit a little bit of reality, hardcore, after the first three weeks. But we handled it fine, and now things are starting to go really smooth."

Robert Downey Jr. Teams with George Clooney

Produced by Clooney Studio, Goodnight, and Good Luck will have George Clooney as both star and director.

The film tells the story of CBS news presenter Edward R. Murrow, who had interviewed American Senator Joseph McCarthy in the 1950s.  Filming this weekend in Los Angeles, and should last seven weeks.

In addition to Clooney (Ocean’s Eleven) and Downey Jr. (Chaplin), Goodnight, and Good Luck also stars David Strathairn (Sneakers) and Patricia Clarkson (The Green Mile).

Jennifer and Brad in Counselling

According to The Sun, the couple, who separated after four years of marriage in January, are trying desperately to stay together.

The paper reports that the actor, 41, has moved back in to their Beverly Hills home.

A source said, "They really want to patch things up. Brad and Jen have been seeing a marriage counsellor. They want to be together, but have issues they need to resolve."

"It’s been a tough time.  Jennifer’s had to cope with rumours about Brad cheating and was blamed for not starting a family. But they love each other very much and want to do everything they can to patch things up.", added the same source.

Luc Besson Linked to Paris 2012

Besson, known for his films, Le Grand Bleu, The Professional, The Fifth Element and Taxi, will direct the short film promoting the French capital.

The film will be shown July 6th in Singapore to the members of the Olympic Committee on the day they vote for the home of the 2012 games.

Paris is in competition with cities such as London (with support from Mick Jagger), New York and Madrid to hold the Olympic Games.

Two Oscars Won’t Change Hilary Swank

The star of Million Dollar Baby said that she refuses to change her life for a little statue.  Which means she will continue to use public transportation in New York.

The reason?  She enjoys "people watching".  Swank explained, "I use the subway all the time. It’s my form of transportation. It’s quick, it’s inexpensive. My job is about playing people and I think once you lose touch with people, what are you playing?"

She added, "So, I’m here and it’s the best people watching in the world – how they take their glasses on and off while they read their paper or how someone, when they’re really tired, how they hold themselves when they’re exhausted."

Hilary Swank has just been crowned best actress for her role in Million Dollar Baby.  She was previously given the same title for the film Boys Don’t Cry, in 2000.

Martha Stewart Freed from Prison

The 63 year-old woman left the West Virginia correctional institute at midnight.

The sentence is not entirely completed however.  The star will be under house arrest for the next 5 months.  She will be fitted with an electronic anke bracelet which will allow authorities to know her location at all times.

Stewart became a multi-millionaire through her homemaking television shows and products.  She was found guilty of lying about a stock sale, resulting in her prison sentence.
