Oasis is Big Demand

According to Ireland Online, this rock group will be pursued by EMI and V2.  Both labels have offered a contract of three albums valued at 28.5 million dollars.

An industry source stated, "Various record labels have been waiting patiently for the contract to end. Now it’s a question of who puts the most money down on the table.
Everybody wants Liam and Noel (Gallagher). They are still an act who can sell millions of records."

The Aviator Ahead for the Oscars

The Aviator is among other things in the prestigious categories for best director, best actor (Leonardo DiCaprio), and best film.

Clint Eastwood and his movie Million Dollar Baby and Finding Neverland, starring, Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, have seven nominations.

In the Oscar foreign film category, the movie by Christophe Barratier Les Choristes is competing against Spanish film The Sea Inside by Alejandro Amenábar.

The 77th annual Oscar ceremony will be held on February 27.

Robin Williams Doing The Krazees

This popular book for preschool children tells the story of a little girl who finds herself face to face with funny, mischievous creatures called the Krazees.  They have a habit of disappearing when the sun comes out.

In this family fun film, Robin Williams plays the part of the little girl’s father who is a psychologist.  He tries to understand what is happening.  Williams also does the voice for one of the creatures.

Brad Pitt Plays Jesse James

This western, financed by Pitt’s production company Plan B Films, will base the movie on the novel The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, written by Robert Hansen.

This book tells the story of one of the most famous gangsters of the West, Jesse James who died facing Robert Ford.  Ford was a member of another gang, and spent his life being tormented by James.

The part of Robert Ford has not yet been assigned.

Michael Douglas in Racing the Monsoon

Racing the Monsoon will be filmed entirely in India.  The star is in the country now doing the preparation.  The American-Indian coproduction will be starting early next year.

According to Douglas, Racing the Monsoon is a romantic film, along the lines of Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile. Douglas added, "Right now, we are developing the screenplay and hope to begin production in early 2006."

This actor and producer is negotiating with actress Aishwarya Rai (Bride & Prejudice) for the starring female role.  Many Indian locals will be in the cast.

Nicole Kidman Under Surveillance

According to the Sydney Daily Telegraph, the police are investigating the installation of sophisticated equipment, at the residence of the star, to overhear her conversations between her and her bodyguard.

The equipment was found next to a security vehicle.  According to the police, it was evident that someone was deliberately eavesdropping on Kidman, and the ins and outs of her residence.

Catwoman in Lead for the Razzies

The Razzies have become as unavoidable as the Oscars, but less sought after by the stars.

Catwoman is ahead for worst movie of the year.  It was directed by French Director Pitof who received seven nominations for worst movie, worst actress, worst director, among others.

Another movie that did well is the movie by Oliver Stone, Alexander.  It obtained six nominations.

In the individual categories for worst male actor we find:  Colin Farrell (Alexander);  Ben Affleck (Jersey Girl & Surviving Christmas);  George W. Bush (Fahrenheit 9/11);  Vin Diesel (Chronicles of Riddick); and Ben Stiller (Along Came Polly. Anchorman, Dodgeball, Envy and Starsky & Hutch).

In addition to Berry, for worst female actresses we find: Hilary Duff (Cinderella Story et Raise Your Voice), Angelina Jolie (Alexander and Taking Lives); Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (New York Minute).

The Razzies Awards will be given out on February 26, the day before the Oscars, and are in their 25th year.

Christian Slater Escapes An Armed Attack

The celebrity was in the British capital to do theatre work, when he was attacked Saturday after finishing his production.

Slater, 35, owes his life to his bodyguard that was accompanying him at the exit of the Gielgud Theatre.

According to Scotland Yard, "A 44-year old man was attacked by a knife which luckily did not penetrate his skin but only his clothes."

The weapon was found, and the police are pursuing the investigation.

J.K. Rowling Gives Birth to a Girl

The famous author successfully delivered her third child.

The baby, whose name is still unknown, was born Sunday evening according to BBC.

Rowling and her husband, Dr. Neil Murray, are thrilled with the birth of their daughter. It is their second child together.  Rowling’s first child was from a preceding relationship.

Kylie Minogue Suing Her Former Production Company

The star has filed a suit with the Supreme Court of Victoria against the famous Producer Pete Waterman and his company PAL Productions.

The singer is claiming not to have touched any of the royalties that she had a right to with the sales of her album Greatest Hits, which came out in 1992, and was released again in 2002.

According to her lawyers, the pop star has money owed to her in the amount of   $830 000 US.

PAl has already paid Minogue $500 000, but may have accumulated interest, other damages and charges.

Waterman is the producer responsible for her success with I Should Be So Lucky.
