More Stars To Sing at the Grammys

Lady Gaga, Green Day, Pink, the Dave Matthews Band and the Zac Brown Band are the latest addition to the impressive line-up of stars to perform at the most prestigious music night of the year.

The announcement pairs with one made earlier, which revealed that Beyoncé, the Black Eyed Peas, Taylor Swift, Maxwell and Lady Antebellum would be hitting the Los Angeles Staples Center stage on January 31.

With the addition of Lady Gaga and the Dave Matthews Band, Grammy organizers claim to have managed to book five artists nominated for Album of the Year, the others being Beyoncé, the Black Eyed Peas and Taylor Swift.

2010’s ceremony is bound to be a big one for women in music. Beyoncé sweeps the nominations with a whopping 10 for her album I Am… Sasha Fierce. She is followed by Swift, who has eight nominations for Fearless, and Lady Gaga is in the running to win up to five awards.

Two New Collaborations for Leona Lewis

The Bleeding Love singer will be taking new steps forward in 2010 with collaborations with renowned artists.

Lewis, who was the winner of the third season of Britain’s X Factor, will be in the studio to record two new songs for her next album, Echo.

According to the Daily Mirror, Lewis is also negotiating with Robbie Williams so that the pair can go on tour together. A source told the publication, "Leona is incredibly proactive. She knows what she wants. The track will coincide with her arena tour, with the possibility that Robbie could appear on stage."

The future plans for the singer don’t stop there.  The rock group Kings of Leon will also be recording a song with the beauty.  The source added, "The Kings of Leon collaboration came about through Leona herself. Caleb (Followill, frontman) and the guys are huge fans."

Lewis is enjoying a very successful career these days.  She has recently recovered from a recent attack by a crazed fan during an autograph session in the fall.

Kate Winslet’s Curves Beat All

A survey conducted by Slimming World, a weight loss company, lists Winslet at the top for having the best body.

At a time when Hollywood starlets are getting thinner and thinner, this result comes as no surprise. Not only does the Titanic star proudly shed her clothes on screen, but she possesses a more natural, curvy figure than many other celebrities.

Winslet is followed by English model Kelly Brook in second place, and third position goes to actress Halle Berry.

The top 5 on the survey is rounded off by two singers. At number four we find Cheryl Cole of the group Girls Aloud, while the fabulous Beyoncé Knowles claims fifth position.

Judging from the survey, it seems that not everyone equates skinniness with beauty. With Kate Moss ousted from the top five positions, she will just have to settle for a spot in the top 10.

Mick Jagger Fears for the Stones

With the recent setbacks of guitarist Ronnie Wood, Jagger is worried about his band being able to pull off a 2010 tour.

A source close to the iconic rock group spoke about a recent meet-up, revealing, "Mick and Ronnie will talk things through in the New Year. They are old friends and Mick will obviously do everything he can to help him. But when it comes to the Stones, Mick has a real eye for detail and always ensures things run like clockwork. He’ll need to be convinced that Ronnie is still up to the job."

A rep for Jagger commented that the band members are constantly in touch, saying, "Mick has been very supportive of Ronnie over the holidays."

Ronnie Wood has been going through some rough times lately. The guitarist’s alcohol problems have resurfaced, and last month, he divorced his wife Jo, after leaving her for Russian waitress Ekaterina Ivanova.

Wood has since split with the waitress following an altercation, which led to his arrest for allegedly assaulting the young woman.

Tiger Woods Goes Back to Mistress

According to Entertainment Tonight, the world’s most famous golfer was with Rachel Uchitel last Sunday.

The 34-year-old hostess is just one among the slew of women who have been linked with Woods’ cheating scandal. More than a dozen women have tacked themselves onto the list of the golfer’s romantic flings, while his marriage has gone up in flames.

Woods and his mistress were spotted together on Sunday having a private evening together at a residence.

Contrary to what was reported earlier about Woods’ trip to the Bahamas on his yacht, Entertainment Tonight claims that the 33-year-old star and Uchitel are currently living together off the coast of Palm Beach, Florida.

Rumours have been running rampant after Woods had his car accident near his Florida home. The golf legend reportedly had an argument with his Swedish wife, Elin Nordegren, which was a sign that their marriage was on the rocks as a result of his indiscretions.

Meanwhile, Nordegren has since left her husband and recently purchased a house in Sweden, where she and her two children headed before Christmas.

Van Morrison Becomes Papa at 64

The Brown Eyed Girl singer and his partner, Gigi Lee, welcomed their first son and newest member of their family.

George Ivan Morrison III is the spitting image of his daddy, according to the artist’s recent birth announcement.

Baby Morrison will have dual citizenship. From his father, he inherits Irish nationality and from his mother, American citizenship.

The 64-year-old singing legend has a daughter, Shana Morrison, 39, from his first marriage. Shana, like her father, is a singer. The proud papa also has two children from his relationship with former Miss Ireland, Michelle Rocca.

Van Morrison, whose real name is George Ivan Morrison, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

Fans Go Gaga Over Sexy Photo Shoot

The provocative celebrity made her mark this year and then decided to take it one step further. The Poker Face singer posed completely nude for a very candid photo session with photographer David LaChapelle.

The famous photographer, who captured memorable images of stars such as Britney Spears, Pamela Anderson and Naomi Campbell, took a series of nude shots of the singer. The pictures are meant to capture Lady Gaga’s complex personality.

 

While the pictures are artistic in nature, they are nevertheless, very explicit. In one shot, she poses naked with only headline clippings covering her most intimate parts. Another picture shows her in the arms of her good friend and rapper, Kanye West. He is holding her in his arms after having rescued her from what appears to be a volcanic eruption in the jungle. Still another image features her paying homage to the film Metropolis. Donning a futuristic costume, she climbs over mountains of naked people lying on the ground.

 

Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, will be including these racy photos in her new super deluxe, limited-edition CD The Fame Monster.

English Press Hails Madonna

Based on the number of articles written on a particular star, a list has been compiled of the most-talked-about stars of the decade.  

British journalists wrote no less than 45 633 articles on Madonna, who always supplied them with plenty of subject matter such as her album releases, world tours, her recent divorce, and the adoption of her two African children.

One of the most famous British singers of all time took second place.  In the past decade, Robbie Williams was the subject of 27 976 articles. The Angels singer’s romantic escapades certainly drew a lot of media attention.

Britney Spears took the third position. The American singer was featured in  27 910 articles in the last 10 years and managed to keep a good balance between successes and flops throughout the decade. Problems in her personal life, a few failed marriages, pregnancies and child custody battles, her partying and of course, who could forget, her shaved head, were all fodder for the media.

Star couple Victoria and David Beckham came in at fourth place. And last but not least, Kate Moss, one of the most famous runway models of the new millennia, closed out the top 5 in fifth place.

The Sexiest Film of the Year Is…

The film that tops the list is the 1998 flick, Out of Sight, starring George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez under the direction of Steven Soderbergh.

The second film on the list is His Girl Friday.  The 1940s classic starred Cary Grant in the role of a handsome newspaper publisher.

In third place is a contemporary film which created a real couple.  Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and action film released in 2005, was where co-stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie met and fell in love.  Their relationship has become one of the most talked-about Hollywood romances of all time.

The top five sexiest films of all time continues with 1981’s Body Heat in the number four position.  Kathleen Turner and William Hurt shared the screen with some hot scenes in this film.

Finally, the film in fifth place is Bull Durham.  Released in 1988, the film starred Kevin Costner as a minor league baseball star romancing Susan Sarandon’s character.  Although the movie isn’t very revealing, it features the most sensual body language.

Avatar Sets New Record

The science-ficiton flick is said to be the most expensive film ever made.  Though the movie was made for just over $400 million, including marketing expenses, it rocked at the box office during its opening weekend.

The 3D film, which takes place on the planet Pandora, earned $73 million on its opening day in America.  Worldwide, the film opened in 106 countries, bringing in $232.2 million.  Furthermore, the film is now the record-setting 3D film for first-day revenue.  The record was previously held by last summer’s Up, which earned $68.1 million during its theatre debut.

Fox International Theatrical, the film’s worldwide distributor, confirmed that the James Cameron flick opened at the number 1 spot in all countries.

James Cameron is a veteran of this kind of success.  In 1997, his film Titanic became the biggest hit of all time, amassing $1.25 bilion.  The epic film also earned 11 Oscars, setting another record.
