MJ’s Father Wants His Piece of the Pie

Last Friday, Joe Jackson’s attorney asked the court for a non-specified amount of money to cover his expenses, estimated at $15 000 per month.

According to the 81-year-old man’s lawyer, there is no reason for his client not to receive a portion of his son’s estate.

In his last weeks, a judge ruled that Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson, would receive $26 000 per month. Katherine, who was also deemed as the legal guardian of Michael’s children, was also granted $60 000 monthly to raise the kids.

Despite the fact that Michael Jackson was in financial difficulty during the last part of his life, the announcement of his death last June has generated a gush of enthusiasm for his music. Several days ago, Forbes magazine reported that Jackson was the third wealthiest dead celebrity. According to the magazine, Jackson’s fortune was estimated at 90 million dollars since his death.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z Get Broody

In an interview with Gotham magazine, rapper Jay-Z covertly confirmed that he and his wife are hoping to conceive a child soon. He mentioned that a baby is at the top of their priority list.

It seems that the 28-year-old singer has changed her tune. Just back in April, she said that she wasn’t interested in becoming a mother right at that moment. She stated, "I definitely want one, but I’m not ready for all of that."

Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z tied the knot last year during an intimate ceremony held in their New York apartment.

Last Thursday (November 5), the couple were honoured at the MTV European Music Awards. Beyoncé was the queen of the night, sweeping up three trophies alone for Best Female Artist, Best Song (Halo) and Best Video (Single Ladies).

As for Jay-Z, he won the award for Best Hip-Hop Artist, which meant that the celebrity couple took home 4 trophies in total from the Berlin ceremony, which marked the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989.

BBritney Spears Underperforms Down Under

The 27-year-old star failed to please at her Perth, Australia concert in front of 17 000 fans last Friday.

According to different sources, Spears was lip synching during the show for certain songs.

This morning, Spears’ manager defended his client in The Australian paper, stating that the singer was very upset with what critics had said. For Paul Dainty, the reports that Spears is not singing the songs is a total fabrication.

The Australian press claims that fans left the show after only three songs, disgusted by the singer’s performance.

Such criticism could not be more untimely, since the Perth performace was Spears’ first show of her 15-date concert series in Australia.

Britney Spears has been accused of lip synching in the past. Other stars have already admitted to using this trick, especially when they have to dance and sing at the same time.

Abu Dhabi’s Ferrari World

Last weekend, F1 race fans could not miss the finishing touches being put on the most futuristic building in the world, Ferrari World. The F1 cars have been racing on a nearby circuit while Ferrari World is under construction.

The future Ferrari World park promises to dazzle fans. Adorned with the largest Ferrari logo ever made (65 m x 48 m), the park was built at a cost of 2 billion dollars.

The park includes the fastest roller coaster in the world. Four passengers are strapped into what looks like an F1 cockpit and propelled to a speed of 200 km/hr. For the more adventurous, there is a G force ride where passengers climb up a 60 meter high tower and drop at 4 or 5 Gs (4 or 5 times a person’s weight), similar to what F1 drivers experience when they take the turns during a race.

The public will also have access to simulators used by drivers for training or to familiarize themselves with a new circuit.

Ferrari World features a professionally taught driving school, the only one of its kind outside of Maranello, which is reserved only for Ferrari owners.

Ferrari World is a 10 minute drive from the international airport, and about thirty-five minutes from the city of Abu Dhabi. It will open is doors in Fall 2010.

Iceland Offers Best Value Destination

According to the Best Of Travel 2010 guide, published by the Lonely Planet tourism firm, the land of ice offers visitors the most competitive prices in the world of tourism.

Hit hard by the financial crisis last year, the small island of 320 000 inhabitants saw their currency, the Icelandic Krona decrease in value, offering travelers significant savings.

Lonely Planet ranked Thailand as the second country that offers more value for your money.  The third position was a surprise. The travel guide ranked London as the third destination for tourists. Known as one of the most expensive cities in the world, the English capital has rose up the charts due to the decreased value of the pound.

According to the Best Of Travel 2010, some restaurants and London hotels have cut their prices in half compared to several years ago.

Other destinations for tourists who want more value for their money include South Africa, India, Malaysia, Bulgaria, Kenya and Las Vegas.
