Lady Gaga Makes Music History

Thanks to her song Paparazzi, Lady Gaga has become the first singer whose four songs from a debut album landed in first position on the Billboard Pop Songs chart, which is the most important American hits chart.

Never before has an artist brought four singles from one album to first place on the chart, which was created in 1992. With Paparazzi, which followed Just DancePoker Face and LoveGame, Lady GaGa has carved a place for herself in music history.  All of the singles come from the album The Game.

Previously, Ace of Base, Avril Lavigne and Alanis Morissette held the record with three songs off their albums topping the chart.

This new accomplishment comes at a good time for Lady Gaga, as she gears up to release her sophomore album, The Fame Monster, on November 23.

Lady Gaga will kick off her world tour on November 27 in Montreal. After she hits several Canadian and American cities, including Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver, the 23-year-old star will next embark on a tour to Europe in January, before she lands in Australia in March 2010.

Madonna Discusses Her Failed Marriage

The superstar admitted that the past 12 months have been very painful.  First, she struggled with the breakdown of her marriage to filmmaker Guy Ritchie.  She also was very disappointed that her second request to adopt a child from Malawi was denied.

During an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, she said, "It was certainly a challenging year. I may have thrown myself off a building. I think work saved me and I’m very grateful I had work to do."

In October 2008, Madonna filed divorce papers, which became final in December.  A few months later, in April 2009, her first application to adopt a baby girl from Malawi was rejected.  She later appealed the court’s decision, and was able to adopt little Mercy last June.

However, now Madonna’s life seems to be back on track, and she’s even found love again.  The 51-year-old singer is dating Jesus Luz, a 23-year-old model.

Quebec Workers Not Worried About H1N1 Threat

The CROP company conducted a survey in September to determine Quebec workers intentions if they were infected by influenza A (H1N1).

The survey revealed that close to 25% of workers would still go to work even if they or a family member was infected by influenza A.

This was more evident in men where 33% said they intend to report to work if they or a family member is infected with the virus.

Despite the threat of an influenza pandemic, more than one in two workers (53%) said they have not changed their hygiene habits, like washing their hands, coughing into their elbow or using a hand disinfectant. Amoung men, this number increased to 58%.

Makeup Kits Are All the Rage

Judging from sales charts, more and more customers are enjoying the benefits of makeup sets.

The company Sephora, which has set up shop in the four corners of the globe, revealed that makeup sets are its best sellers in the United States and in Europe and Asia.

These sets are advantageous to consumers, because they cost less than purchasing individual products, offer harmonized colour palettes, and provide a basic, complete ensemble. In some cases, professional tricks are shared on DVD.

It comes as no surprise that the majority of cosmetics brands have jumped onto the makeup set bandwagon. However, some of the more prestigious brands are hesitant to follow the trend.
