Emma Watson Is Hitting the Books

The 19-year-old star has been getting settled at Brown University, founded in 1764 in Providence, Rhode Island.

The actress who has played Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film franchise, is now a student in real life.  Watson wrote about her new endeavour on her Web site. "I’ve finally arrived at Brown University and I’m having the most amazing time," she says. "I’m still so excited to be here; I’ve already met so many incredible people."

The young star will be concentrating on her studies for the next several months.  The next film of the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, will be released in November 2010.

Whitney Houston Admits Her Mistakes

During an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Houston revealed that she had a serious crack problem in the early 90s.  The singer added that her drug problem became so bad that she stayed at home in her pyjamas for seven months.

Houston, 46, said that her hard drug use occurred when she was married to Bobby Brown.  During that time, Houston also did the film The Bodyguard with Kevin Costner.

In 2002, Whitney Houston denied using crack cocaine during a major television interview.

Houston’s new album, I Look To You, is having an impressive run on the charts, reaching the top spot in the United States, Canada, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.

Paris Hilton Listed in the Dictionary

The heiress has joined 3 000 other people who are now listed in the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations.

This reference book, which is celebrating its 65th anniversary, has just been updated for the seventh time to better reflect the 21st century. 20 000 citations have been added to the new addition that goes on sale today.

Oxford listed Paris Hilton’s quote, citing, “Dress cute wherever you go, life is too short to blend in.” 

Hilton, who is not particularly known for her words of wisdom, finds herself among historical figures, such as Nobel Prize winners, Martin Luther King, Jr., Neil Armstrong and Confucius.

Geri Halliwell’s Mission in Nepal

The former Spice Girl, who is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, is now in Asia promoting the health of pregnant women and women’s rights.

The 37-year-old star met with Prime Minister Madhav Kumar to discuss her cause.

Halliwell has been in Nepal since Sunday, visiting women in the southwestern region of the country. In several districts of this region, women fall victim to domestic violence.

The star met with women who were sold as prostitutes, but who have managed to escape and find shelters.

According to a recent survey conducted in two Nepali districts by a local women’s organisation, 80% of women are abused by their husbands.

Another statistic provided by the UN claims that 1 out of 31 Nepali women dies after giving birth. The singer commented, "It’s an embarrassing issue that no one wants to talk about. It’s a symptom of when a mother is not taken care of particularly after she’s given birth."

Halliwell hopes that her visit will shed light on the situation, and wants to educate and inform the public on the conditions in Nepal.

Janet Jackson Talks About Michael

The younger sister of the King of Pop was interviewed for the first time since Michael’s tragic death on June 25.

The Control singer gave an exclusive interview to Harper’s Bazaar magazine, which goes on sale Sunday. "It will drive you crazy," she said about the media frenzy. "People can have rhinoceros skin, but there’s a point when something’s going to hurt you. Not everyone is stone. I haven’t watched the news in weeks. I had to ask my chef, ‘How’s Obama doing?’ I haven’t read a newspaper. On top of that, [we’ve lost] a family member."

Jackson was asked about Michael’s children, and how they handled the memorial service for their father. "I was really proud," Jackson said of that day. "People said to me that Michael’s daughter speaking really gave them a sense of how he was as a father, in her words. Paris is incredibly smart; they are all so smart. She’s a sweet girl. The kids are doing well. They’re with all their cousins; that family love will keep them going."

Ioan Gruffudd Is a Father

Gruffudd and Evans became parents on Sunday (September 6) to a baby girl named Ella Betsi.

The baby, who weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces, is the first child for the couple, who met on the set of 102 Dalmatians in 2000 and later married in 2007.

Gruffudd, 35, also starred in Fantastic Four, playing Reed Richards.  Evans is best known for playing Eloise Hawking in the television series Lost.

Hugh Hefner Is Officially Divorced

The eccentric 83-year-old man is free from his marriage to Playmate Kimberly Conrad.

Hefner submitted an application to the court in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences to justify the decision.  The two were married in July 1989, and were officially separated nine years later.

Conrad, 47, is the mother of two of Hefner’s four children.  For several years she has lived in a house Hefner purchased near the Playboy Mansion.

Hefner reportedly decided to divorce after Conrad filed a lawsuit against him for five million dollars, claiming that she has a right to share the profits from the sale of a residence Hefner bought while they were together. 

Hugh Hefner now lives with Playmates Crystal Harris, 23, and 19-year-old twins, Karissa and Kristina Shannon.

Chris Robinson To Be a Second-Time Daddy

The 42-year-old rocker and his girlfriend, Allison Bridges, are awaiting the arrival of their first child together.  The baby is due in the beginning of 2010.

Robinson is already the father of a son, Ryder, from his six-year marriage to actress Kate Hudson.

The singer and Allison Bridges have been dating since 2007, the same year that Robinson’s divorce from Hudson became final.

The Black Crowes released their 8th album, Before the Frost, on August 31.

Marriage rumours are running wild after the 30-year-old Bride Wars star was photographed by the New York Daily News wearing a diamond ring.

Hudson has been dating the New York Yankees star since last November, and the two are very open about how happy they are together.

The rumours have not been confirmed by reps for either of the stars, but the speculation continues.

Megan Fox Against Sex Scenes

The Transformers film star declared that she will never be caught having sex on the big screen.

The 23-year-old brunette shared her opinion of on-screen sexual exploits with the New York Post, saying, "Ugh, never! That’s the last thing I want to see. I would always just see myself looking like a hippo having sex."

Even if she uses her charm on camera, she has no desire to undress. Fox explained, "It lives forever, especially now, with the Internet. I just can’t. I just can’t. Literally all I have left are my private parts and I don’t want to also share them with the world."

Ironically, Megan Fox will be starring in the film Jennifer’s Body, which hits theatres soon.
