GM revient dans le marché de la location

Le vice-président de GM, Bob Lutz, a confirmé que sa société louerait à nouveau des véhicules dans un avenir rapproché.

Le dirigeant a du même souffle révélé que ces locations ne s’appliqueraient qu’aux modèles haut de gamme du constructeur. Pour GM, louer des véhicules de masse n’est pas rentable. 

De plus, selon Lutz, le marché des véhicules de luxe est très friand des locations. Le constructeur n’a donc pas le choix s’il veut demeurer concurrentiel.

Selon le Wall Street Journal, GMAC, la filiale financière de GM, s’apprêterait à revenir à la charge avec des locations dès le 1er août. L’information n’a pas été confirmée par General Motors.

Lexus prête à lancer Safety Connect

 À compter du 1er août, plusieurs modèles Kexus 2010 pourront être livrés avec le système Safety Connect, un concurrent au système OnStar de General Motors.

 

 

Moyennant un abonnement annuel, les clients de Lexus disposeront d’un système de télémétrie bidirectionnelle. Safety Connect propose plusieurs services de sécurité, incluant celui d’aviser les autorités en cas d’accident.

Les véhicules Lexus disposant déjà du système Enform pourront aussi bénéficier de l’ajout du système Safety Connect.

Toyota, la maison-mère de Lexus, entend également offrir un peu plus tard le système Safety Connect.

Liam Gallagher Parties with Lily Allen

According to The Sun, the Oasis singer and Allen thoroughly enjoyed their 11-hour Virgin Atlantic flight.

The party began for the stars before takeoff, at the lounge in London’s Heathrow airport. Once on board, the artists continued to party with glasses of champagne.

Despite warnings from Virgin Atlantic staff to respect the other passengers, the two stars carried on as if they were the only people in the world.  One passenger revealed, "They were already well-oiled by the time they came on board. There is obviously a different set of rules for celebrities."

Gallagher, his band Oasis and Allen were on their way to perform at the Fuji Rocks Festival from July 26-26.

Retouched Photos of Gisele Bündchen

The 29-year-old supermodel posed for the latest London Fog ad campaign. However, photos of the star, who is pregnant with football player Tom Brady’s child, were edited to hide the model’s baby bump.

London Fog explained the reason behind the photo retouches, stating, "Although Gisele was photographed while pregnant, most of the shots have been retouched to respect her privacy during this wonderful and personal time in her life."

Bündchen tied the knot with the New England Patriots quarterback last February after two romantic years of dating. The pregnancy was announced in June. She then declared, "I think I’ve met the right person, my partner, my companion."

Val Kilmer Owes Tax Money

According to the American Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the star has neglected to pay $538 858 in taxes to the government.

The Batman Forever star was notified of his debt on July 15.

Kilmer, 49, will be back to work soon, so he should be able to pay his bills.  He is on board for the film Silver Cord, which is currently in pre-production, but filming should begin soon in Atlanta, before moving to Canada.

Michael Jackson’s Final Hours

While investigators in Los Angeles continue to dig for clues to understand what took place during Michael Jackson’s final hours of life, the star’s cook, Kai Chase, has spoken to the Associated Press.

Usually in the morning, Dr. Conrad Murray would come down from Jackson’s room with two tanks of oxygen, and would then return with breakfast for Jackson.

On June 25, the doctor did not come looking for cereal for the singer. Around noon, neither the doctor nor the singer had left the room. Chase began to speculate, and recounted, "I thought maybe Mr. Jackson is sleeping late."

While preparing lunch, the doctor asked Chase to bring Prince, Jackson’s 12-year-old son. "He’s screaming very loud. I run into the den where the kids are playing. Prince runs to meet Dr. Murray and from that point on you could feel the energy in the house change."

She added, "I walked into the hall and I saw the children there. The daughter was crying. I saw paramedics running up the stairs."

According to Chase, the house had become the epitome of chaos. The children were crying, their nanny, a cleaning lady and the cook met in a circle to pray for the star.

At 1:30pm, Chase and the other personnel were advised to leave the premises. Less than an hour later, at 2:26pm, Michael Jackson was pronounced dead.

Jude Law to Be a Father Again

The British star’s former girlfriend, whom he met last Christmas, is pregnant, confirmed the actor’s rep.

Law, 36, was surprised when the woman phoned him with the news.  His rep stated, "Following a relationship last year, Jude Law has been advised by the birth mother that he is to be the father of a child due in the autumn of this year. "He is no longer in a relationship with her but he intends to be a fully supportive part of the child’s life."

The Sherlock Holmes star is already the father of three children, Rafferty, 12, Iris, 8, and Rudy, 6, from his marriage to Sadie Frost.

According to the Daily Mirror, Law had been dating the mystery woman during the shooting of Sherlock Holmes in New York last winter.  The mother-to-be is seven months pregnant.

Nouveau prototype pour Kia

Très réussi stylistiquement, la VG est une berline qui sera dévoilé par Kia en septembre prochain.

Même si peu de détails ont encore été révélés, on sait que deux motorisations seront proposées pour ce véhicule. Ce qui laisse penser que Kia serait plus prêt que l’on peut le croire à commercialiser cette nouvelle voiture.

Ainsi, un quatre cylindres de 2,4 litres et un V6 de 3,5 litres de 277 chevaux sont au programme pour la VG.

D’ailleurs, certaines sources européennes nous permettent de croire que la VG serait vendue en Corée, Amérique du Nord et Europe.

Shirley Manson Teams with Guitar Hero 5

The next instalment of the video game, set to be released next fall, will feature singer Shirley Manson.

Manson talked with NME magazine about the experience. "They did a scan of my face then I had to put on this weird suit, it was super-freaky," said the singer.

The Only Happy When It Rains singer will not be the only artist to participate in the game’s latest edition.  Arctic Monkeys, Blur, Nirvana, The White Stripes and Coldplay will also be featured.

Since its release in 2005, the Guitar Hero series has sold over 37 million units worldwide.

Britney Spears is Back on Top

While people were doubting that Spears would triumph after her history of personal and professional setbacks, the star has proven that she can bounce back and remain one of today’s hottest singers.

The New York Post revealed that Womanizer, which came out last October, has become the hugest hit in Spears’ career.

Since it was released, the single off her Circus album has sold 2 777 614 copies. The song has even surpassed her other big hits, Baby One More Time (1 million) and Toxic (500 000).

Womanizer has allowed the singer to take back the reins on stage around the world. The star has completed the European leg of her tour, and will be reuniting with North American fans in August and September, before she heads to Australia in November.
