Paparazzi Desperate for Brangelina Shots

Ever since Angelina Jolie gave birth to her twins just recently, the paparazzi have been desperate to get the first snapshots of the babies, causing dismay for the celebrity couple’s security guards.

The two stars, who have been living in France for several weeks, already announced that she has sold the first official photos of the babies for a sum of $11 million, and the money will be donated to a charity.

However, for independent photographers, one snap of the babies would be worth its weight in gold. That explains why there has been a swarm of  opportunists surrounded Château Miraval, where the couple is staying.

Last Thursday, two cameramen caused some trouble for security. One of the guards broke a finger while trying to intercept a photographer dressed in camouflage.

The Rolling Stones Dump EMI

The long-term, worldwide contract with the most popular rock group in EMI’s history, has moved over to Universal Records. The agreement between the Stones and EMI ended in March, ending a partnership that lasted 31 years.

The new deal ensures that Universal will release the group’s next recordings, as well as take over the rights to the Rolling Stones catalog. Universal also expects to put out the group’s earlier music in digital format.

In a statement, the group said, "Universal are forward thinking, creative and hands-on music people. We really look forward to working with them."

For EMI, the rock band’s departure is a significant loss. During the course of recent years, the label has had to bid farewell to major names, like Sir Paul McCartney and Radiohead.

Among some of the best-known musicians to have switched to the Universal label are Elton John and U2.

Canadians Modify Their Lifestyles

According to a study conducted by Group Investors, 75% of participants noticed an increase in their grocery bills within the last three months. Nearly half (48%) of the people said that they had already started purchasing less expensive produce.

Canadians are attributing the rise in food prices to the rising cost of fuel, which is prompting a change in attitude. Although the price of food has only increased 1.2 % in the country since last year (Statistics Canada, April 2008), several Canadians anticipate a rise in food costs and are considering changing their habits.

Thus, 87% of the people surveyed said that they would make efforts to eat at home rather than eating out, buy local produce (85%), limit the purchase of exotic or out-of-season fruits (55%), grow a garden (46%) or eat less meat (41%).

In total, there were 1030 Canadians, 18 years and up, that responded to the national survey over the telephone in the beginning of June.

Britney Spears Not Being Charged

The photographer, who has not been identified, alleged last May, six months after the incident, that the 26-year-old star drove her car over his foot.

The district attorney dismissed the complaint on the grounds that there was not sufficient evidence to accuse the star.

According to the prosecutor, there has been such a media frenzy surrounding Spears, that it would be hard to prove the driver’s negligence, even if photos of the incident were snapped.

Therefore, no charges will be pressed against Spears.

Last October, the singer pleaded not guilty for driving without a license.
