OnePlus is holding a surprise event in China this weekend

OnePlus has announced that it’s holding a surprise launch event in China this weekend.

The event, scheduled for this Saturday, December 17th at 14:30 China Standard Time, was announced on Chinese social media network Weibo. The post, as translated, reads, “New direction, new action, new future. Born to the new, witness the important moment of OnePlus brand and products! See you online at 14:30 on Saturday, December 17.”

Considering that OnePlus 11 leaks have been ramping up in the past few months, it could be that the event would focus on the new flagship. However, on the other hand, OnePlus normally teases its new flagship launches months in advance, and considering that the upcoming event was revealed just a week in advance, we can also expect it to be related to a less anticipated announcement.

It might be that the company shares a teaser for the OnePlus 11 at the event, though it doesn’t seem likely that the phone will be revealed at the event.

From what we know so far, the OnePlus 11 will sport a 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, up to 16GB of RAM, a triple camera setup with 50-megapixel, 48-megapixel and 32-megapixel shooters, 16-megapixel selfie camera and a 5,000mAh battery.

Additionally, the company is reportedly looking to drop the ‘Pro’ moniker from the upcoming flagship, and just stick with the OnePlus 11.

Twitter has banned the account that tracked Elon Musk’s private jet

A famous Twitter account that had been constantly tracking Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk’s private jet has been suspended.

The account, @ElonJet, used publicly available information to follow which airports Musk’s private jet flew to, and shared the updated on Twitter. Notably, the person who ran the account, @jxckSweeney has also been suspended.

So much for freedom of speech?

Before the @jxckSweeney account was banned, Sweeney said that screenshots provided by a Twitter employee indicated that the social media company was limiting the @ElonJet account’s reach, essentially shadow-banning it.

Back in January, Musk offered Sweeney $5,000 to take down the account and stop tracking his whereabouts, saying that it is a security risk, even though the information used by Sweeney was available publicly, and he just broadcasted it to his audience on Twitter. At the time, Sweeney declined Musk’s offer and said, “Any chance to up that to $50k? It would be great support in college and would possibly allow me to get a car maybe even a Model 3.”

It is currently unknown why both of Sweeney’s accounts were banned, but we’ll hopefully hear about it soon, likely from Musk himself.

Sweeney’s @elonmuskjet Instagram account is still up and running.

Universal Studios U.S. Super Nintendo World theme park opens on February 17

If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the opening of Universal Studios Hollywood Super Nintendo World, you’ll be happy to know that the theme park will officially open on February 17th, 2023.

Similar to the Japan-located Super Nintendo World, this U.S. version of the park is a self-contained area at Universal Studios. The timing of the theme park’s opening isn’t surprising, given The Super Mario Bros. Movie hits theatres on April 7th, 2023.

Similar to the Japanese version of the theme park, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, an augmented reality (AR) experience that overlays a digital experience on a real track, is the main attraction. Unfortunately, this will be the only Super Nintendo World ride available when the park opens. The Japanese version of the park also offers a ride called Yoshi’s Adventure. It’s currently unclear if this ride is also coming to the U.S. version of Super Nintendo World.

Just like the Japanese version of the park, Universal Studios Hollywood’s Super Nintendo World allows attendees to use a ‘Power-Up Band’ to interact with real-world question mark blocks and characters. There’s also Toadstool Cafe, a restaurant that serves Mario-themed food like the ‘Piranha Plan Caprese’ and the aptly named ‘Mario Bacon Cheese Burger.’

A second U.S-based Super Nintendo World is scheduled to open at Universal Studios Florida in the future.

Disney Channel, Junior and XD content are now available on StackTV

Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD content is now available to StackTV subscribers in Canada.

Corus-owned StackTV costs $12.99/month and features channels like Global, Showcase, YTV, Adult Swim, Slice Teletoon, History and more (a full list of channels is available on StackTV’s website).

Unlike most streaming services, StackTV doesn’t have an app but is available as an Amazon Prime channel subscription. The platform can also be subscribed to through Rogers Ignite TV or Ignite SmartStream and FuboTV, a streaming platform available on smart TVs, iOS and Android. The Amazon Prime streaming channel costs $9.99/month; however, you’ll also need Amazon Prime to access the channel, which costs $99 a year.

Across all three new Disney-focused channels, the following content is available:

Disney Channel

  • Big City Greens
  • Bunk’d
  • Hamster & Gretel
  • Raven’s House
  • The Ghost and Molly McGee
  • The Owl House
  • The Villans of Valley View
  • Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion

Disney Junior

  • Alice’s Wonderland Bakery
  • Bluey
  • Eureka!
  • Firebuds,
  • Gigantosaurus
  • Mickey Mouse Funhouse
  • PJ Masks
  • Puppy Dog Pals
  • Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends

Disney XD

  • Ghostface

Back in 2021, Corus announced that StackTV had 800,000 subscribers across StackTV and its Teletoon+ Amazon Prime channel. While the media company hasn’t announced updated subscriber numbers, the base has likely grown at least slightly since then.

Latest Tesla update brings Apple Music and Mahjong to your car

One of the key advantages Tesla’s electric vehicles (EVs) offer over competitors are the rapid software updates that add new features to its cars.

In the EV company’s latest holiday update (version 2022.44.25), Tesla has brought several new features to its fleet, including official Apple Music support, which joins Spotify and Tidal, and of course, the addition of Mahjong to its ‘Tesla Arcade.’

Other new features include Dog Mode, which allows users to leave their furry friends safely in their vehicle with climate control on. Finally, there are also improvements to Tesla’s ‘Light Show’ feature that syncs headlights with music, allowing users to schedule a show 10 minutes in advance or set up a “multi-car orchestra,” alongside other minor user-interface changes.

Why would someone want to create a light show with their car? Who knows. Still, it’s great to see Apple Music finally make its way to Tesla’s EVs.

It’s worth pointing out that using Apple Music requires a Tesla Premium Connectivity subscription, which costs $13.99/month. This cost is on top of Apple Music’s $10.99/month cost.
