Elon Musk’s mother appears to incite voter fraud

Elon Musk’s mother has been roundly criticized for a message posted on X, her son’s social network.

In this tweet, she attempts to play politics by encouraging Republicans and Donald Trump supporters to commit voter fraud, urging them to go to ten polling stations and vote ten times using ten false names.

Maye Musk also seems to be embracing the wave of massive misinformation propagated by her son on X (formerly Twitter). In a message, she asserts that, lacking other options because of the Democrats, Republicans should “also” on Election Day “work the system”.

She argues that it’s not necessary to register to vote, suggesting instead voting ten times using ten fake names at ten polling stations, which would amount to 100 votes.

Her message quickly sparked outrage, and X users commented on her tweet, claiming that her suggestion were actually illegal.

The community note pointed out that it was actually illegal to vote multiple times, accompanied by a link to US election law. Some even claimed that his tweet could be interpreted as incitement to commit a crime, which could expose him to charges of conspiracy to commit a crime.

While her son, Elon, was attending a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Maye Musk asked X users to ignore another of her tweets, claiming that she had just learned at the event that Republicans would ensure that no illegal immigrants voted.

Her apology, when she suggested that her earlier message should be understood as sarcasm, was met with anger. Her comments drew strong criticism because of the dangerous precedent they set and the potential impact on public confidence in electoral processes.

This is particularly worrying given that her son owns a large social media platform, perceived by many X users as a source of truth, despite its involvement in misinformation.

Recall that at the same time, Elon Musk was attending a rally in Pennsylvania, wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat and calling himself a “Dark MAGA” as he hopped on stage alongside Donald Trump.

His appearance quickly went viral, and Musk was mocked by his detractors on his own social network.

The incident involving the comment by his mother, Maye Musk, as well as Musk’s takeover of X in general, highlights the growing danger of the interplay between social media management and politics.

Trump and his “bad genes” comments are unacceptable

Former President Donald Trump once again stirred up controversy during his interview on the Hugh Hewitt Show podcast, where he insinuated that illegal immigrants who committed crimes possessed “bad genes” and claimed that there are: “a lot of bad genes in the country right now.”

Donald Trump made matters worse by claiming that Kamala Harris has no idea what she’s proposing on immigration, and that her policies have led to a dangerous influx into the U.S. of “13,000 murderers”, claiming that many of them were involved in several homicides.

Trump falsely claims that Harris is responsible for the entry of “13,000 murderers”, whereas the data in a recent report, from which he extracted this figure, comes from decades ago, well before the Biden/Harris administration, and was therefore also collected during his own administration.

Getty Images

During the interview, Trump attempts to blame border problems on Kamala Harris, stating, “Why not allow people to cross an open border, 13,000 of whom are believed to be murderers, many of whom have killed multiple people, and who are now living happily in the United States?”

In reality, however, these individuals are not living freely and happily in the U.S., but have been convicted and imprisoned in federal jails for decades, according to recent data from the head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Getty Images

The White House press secretary, meanwhile, strongly condemned Trump’s comments, calling his assertions “hateful” and “disgusting” and pointing to notable comparisons with Trump’s offensive assertion that immigrants are “poisoning the blood” of the nation.

This statement has been compared to the hateful ideologies advocated by white supremacists. This comes on top of his campaign promise of mass deportation, following his other shameful comments about legal immigrants settled in Springfield, Ohio.

Getty Images

On Trump’s side, his spokespeople are at pains to link his remarks exclusively to murderers. However, by also making a direct link between illegal immigrants and border problems, and given that these two assertions are made simultaneously in the same trade, it leaves no doubt as to the target of his accusations: “You know, a murderer, I believe, it’s in their genes. And we have a lot of bad genes in our country right now.”

Getty Images

Although his rhetoric of dehumanizing migrants is common at his rallies and forms the core of his election campaign, it has sparked widespread outrage, with the notable exception of Republicans.

Another hurricane heads straight for Florida

After the immense devastation caused by Hurricane Helene across much of the southeastern United States, resulting in more than 225 deaths, Hurricane Milton, which has intensified rapidly in the last 48 hours since forming to Category 5, is heading straight for Florida.

https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/1843331543030247655

Milton is expected to hit Florida on Wednesday, targeting heavily populated areas such as Orlando and Tampa Bay, just two weeks after the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene.

Getty Images

In less than 48 hours, the storm intensified rapidly and unexpectedly. Experts had initially predicted that it could reach Category 3, but it finally went from Category 2 to Category 5 in just a few hours!

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis warned residents to prepare for the largest mass evacuation the state has seen in several years, heralding worrying intensity and devastation to come. Predictions of a Category 5 storm on impact also raise concerns about the consequences for communities.

Getty Images

Residents of areas recently hit by Hurricane Helene are still cleaning up, while the streets are cluttered with furniture and miscellaneous items that need to be thrown away due to the devastation.

Residents of Florida’s coastal communities are warned that storm surges, up to 12 feet high, could be deadly, worsening the situation in areas still trying to recover from the previous storm.

Getty Images

A state of emergency has been declared in the majority of Florida’s 65 counties. Authorities expect major disruptions, including flooding and power outages.

Floridians are preparing for the impending hurricane by filling sandbags, boarding up doors and windows, and stocking up on supplies.

Many experts and meteorologists associate the rapid intensity of Milton and Helene with climate change and favorable weather conditions, notably due to warming ocean waters, particularly in the Gulf of Mexico.

Trump knew he lost the 2020 election, according to the Jack Smith documents

Jack Smith, the special counsel in charge of the ongoing federal election interference case against Donald Trump, recently made significant revelations in a document released by the court on October 2.

Jack Smith argues that Trump used illegal acts to try to alter the results of the 2020 presidential election.

https://twitter.com/CNN/status/1841571612010614785

In a 165-page document, Smith explains that Trump was aware that his claims of voter fraud were false, as many people in his inner circle, including Mike Pence, had informed him.

Getty Images

Numerous advisors close to Trump, whose names have been redacted to protect their identities for future litigation, repeatedly told him in the months following the election that he had lost, that Joe Biden had won and that his accusations of fraud were completely unfounded.

According to the documents, several conversations took place between Trump and his close advisors, including Mike Pence, who repeatedly encouraged Trump to accept the election results between November 2020 and January 2021.

Despite this, he persisted with his allegations in an attempt to retain power.

Getty Images

Through this document, Jack Smith seeks to demonstrate to the court that these conversations were not related to their official duties, but took place as part of the election campaign.

He argues that Trump was acting as a candidate and not as president, which would prevent him from claiming the presidential immunity recently granted by the Supreme Court.

Getty Images

While many Trump supporters believe he is telling the truth when he claims the election was stolen from him, testimony from his close advisors reveals the opposite: Trump was aware of the legitimacy of the results.

He chose to lie to his voters by removing some of his advisors and replacing them with people willing to lie for him, according to Jack Smith.

Getty Images

A key witness, whose name is blacked out in court documents, recounts a comment overheard during a conversation between Trump and his family, in which he asserted that regardless of whether they won the election or not, he had to keep fighting hard.

Getty Images

This example is one of many cited in the 165-page document, confirming that Trump was determined to retain his power, despite the lack of evidence supporting his allegations.

JD Vance refuses to acknowledge that Trump lost in 2020

At the much-anticipated vice-presidential debate on October 1, Republican candidate JD Vance was sharply questioned by Democratic candidate Tim Walz about his stance on the 2020 presidential election and the events of January 6, 2021.

When pressed by the Minnesota governor, Vance refused to acknowledge that Donald Trump had lost the election.

This crucial trade between Vance and Walz over election certification took place during the debate hosted by CBS News reporters Margaret Brennan and Norah O’Donnell.

Getty Images

Vance avoided Tim Walz’s question about his running mate Donald Trump losing the 2020 election, saying he preferred to focus on future issues, even after Walz asked him repeatedly.

Walz called it a “damning lack of response”, pointing out the stark differences between their positions on electoral democracy.

Getty Images

This refusal to acknowledge Trump’s defeat raises questions about the future of democracy and highlights the divisions within the Republican party over the integrity of present and future elections.

JD Vance dodged questions about the possibility of contesting the 2024 election results, despite certification from state leaders. Trump’s running mate, who is adept at diverting attention from the debate to other topics, asserted that censorship of social media was, in his view, the greatest threat to democracy, surpassing concerns about the 2020 elections.

Walz, for his part, pointed out that the refusal to accept the election results had contributed to the division of the nation.

Trump throws chicken (paid for by Kid Rock?) at a football game

Former President Donald Trump never misses an opportunity to put on a show, and this weekend he once again attracted attention at a college football game in Tuscaloosa between Alabama and Georgia, where he surprised those in attendance by throwing boxes of chicken at them.

It didn’t take long for the crowd to react by shouting “USA! USA!” after receiving boxes of chicken thrown by the former president as Kid Rock stood by his side.

Getty Images

Trump’s presidential campaign team released the video of the event, no doubt hoping it would go viral, and it sure did.

Getty Images

There’s no confirmation that it was actually Kid Rock who funded the chicken boxes launched by the former president, but he was spotted at the counter paying with a large quantity of chicken boxes in front of him.

Getty Images

Trump’s presence at this college football game is not surprising. He has indeed been spotted at numerous sporting events in the past during his election campaigns.

Getty Images

Trump likes to show up at sporting events during his campaign, where he is sometimes well received, as is the case here, but he also frequently receives a mixture of applause and booing during his appearances.

Rudy Giuliani’s daughter accuses Trump of stealing her father from her

Caroline Giuliani, daughter of former New York mayor and Donald Trump’s ex-lawyer Rudy Giuliani, didn’t mince words about Trump, accusing him of stealing her father.

She calls on Americans not to let Trump take over their country too.

In an essay for Vanity Fair, Caroline Giuliani declared her support for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, while expressing deep concern for America’s future should Donald Trump return to the White House.

Getty Images

Caroline Giuliani cites her father as an example, whose life has imploded since associating with Trump, first during his 2016 presidential campaign, then by joining Trump’s personal legal team in April 2018, and during the 2020 presidential election.

Giuliani’s decline is said to be linked to numerous lawsuits seeking to overturn election results, making false and discredited accusations about rigged voting machines, polling station fraud, and… an international communist conspiracy.

Getty Images

Rudy Giuliani even spoke at Trump’s rally ahead of the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, where he renewed his false accusations of voter fraud and called for a “trial by combat” against those he falsely accused.

Getty Images

Giuliani has been indicted in connection with the 2020 election prosecutions in Georgia, as well as similar charges in Arizona. He also lost $148 million in a defamation suit over his false accusations against two election officials in Georgia.

In 2024, Rudy was disbarred in New York State and the District of Columbia.

A brutal fall for the former America’s Mayor, which his daughter Caroline was able to witness from the front row.

Getty Images

Caroline Giuliani says her father lost his reputation by becoming one of Trump’s most ardent supporters, resulting in a loss of not only his personal, but also his professional integrity.

It was extremely painful for her to witness, and she sees the collapse of her father’s life as a warning about the destructive consequences of a possible second presidential term for Donald Trump.

Getty Images

According to Caroline, Trump represents a nefarious force that has not only destroyed her family, but could also threaten the nation as a whole, words that certainly invite reflection.

Earth has a new mini moon!

Earth welcomed a “mini moon”, a temporary visitor, into its orbit on September 29, 2024. This astral companion is due to orbit our planet for around two months. The transitory extraterrestrial star, christened 2024 PT5, measures around 10 meters and is due to leave Earth’s gravitational embrace on November 25 and return to the Arjuna Belt, where it originated.

https://Twitter.com/CBSEveningNews/status/1840569912005161155

The asteroid was discovered on August 7 by a telescope on South African territory belonging to the University of Madrid astronaut team.

This discovery sheds light on the phenomenon of mini moons. These are small celestial objects that enter the Earth’s orbit for a short period of time, including this one, which passes within 4.5 million kilometers of the Earth while traveling at a speed of around 3,530 km/h.

Mini moons are unique in their fleeting nature. It’s because they don’t complete a full orbit that they stand out from other celestial bodies. The 2024 PT5 is scheduled to circle the Earth in 57 days, but its orbit will only be completed a quarter of the way before the object escapes into space.

CBS Evening News on X

The chances of amateur astronomers catching a glimpse of asteroid 2024 PT5 are practically nil. You’d need a professional telescope to catch a glimpse.

The next mini moon could orbit within the Earth’s magnetic field within the next five years, but for the moment, there are no others in sight.

Rest assured, this phenomenon is in no way dangerous to terrestrial security.

Bill Maher predicts Harris’ victory and Trump is angry about it

Six weeks before the election, Bill Maher, comedian and host of HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher, predicted that Donald Trump would “definitely lose” the upcoming 2024 presidential election, drawing the ire of the former president!

https://twitter.com/thehill/status/1840323148392157424

Bill Maher, who has often been criticized for predicting that Trump would win in past elections despite the many controversial events surrounding him, says, with six weeks to go before the election, that he is now convinced Trump will lose:

“We can feel it.”

This follows his statements a few weeks earlier in which he already claimed to think Trump would fail to return to the White House.

Getty Images

During a discussion at the “overtime” segment with his panel of guests, Maher pointed out that people seem to quickly forget the mistakes of the past, condemning them to repeat them. He gave the example of Trump, who was president only four years earlier, and noted that we seem to have completely forgotten what it was like.

When one of his guests advised him not to jump to conclusions about the upcoming election, Maher replied that he had already put his mark on it and that we wouldn’t repeat the mistake of re-electing Trump.

Getty Images

When asked by one of his guests, author Fran Lebowitz, if he meant what he said, Maher responded with conviction:

“He’s definitely going to lose. We can feel it.”

He also jokingly added not to worry or think about it, saying that even if Trump won, not worrying about it beforehand would avoid all the stress of the election.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DABhJRVOEp_

Donald Trump was quick to call Bill Maher a bad comedian… and accused him, in a post on Truth Social, of using fake laughs on his show. He also called Bill Maher and his program “obnoxious and disgusting”.

Getty Images

Trump also took the opportunity to send a message to Fox News, saying that real Republicans hate it when Fox airs his show, because it gives the impression that the left “agrees” with them.

Trump urged Fox to be smarter…
