Ezekiel Elliott refuses to comment on exit from Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are going to be looking considerably different next season, given the fact that they decided to part ways with popular former 2016 1st round Draft selection Ezekiel Elliott.

The unfortunate news for Elliott is that he’s been unable to find a new NFL home so far, but there’s still plenty of time before teams once again gather for training camp. It would be a stunner if there was a team who wasn’t willing to take a waiver on him.

In the meantime, he still remains a hugely popular figure in the community. He was swarmed by fans making an appearance at the ’’Light It Up’’ gala at the Hilton Anatole to help raise money for the Children’s Cancer Fund – though one thing he declined to talk about with media members was his exit from the team. However, he said that he was doing well.

“I’m doing great,” he responded. “Doing great.”

The fact that Elliott has been seen working out with quarterback Dak Prescott has given several of them hope that a return to the Cowboys could somehow be in the cards.

“He’s my best friend,’’ Prescott said when asked if he and Elliott were workout partners. “Hell yeah I’m throwing with him.’’

Does Prescott sense any frustration on Elliott’s part over remaining unsigned?

“I can’t tell you that,’’ Prescott said. “Honestly, I’m not going to pick on that. When I see him, I don’t talk about that.

“But hell, I would be.’’

Report: Derrick Henry spurns Cowboys, will join division rival

Earlier this month, reports surfaced that the Dallas Cowboys could have serious interest in Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, especially combined with having released fan favorite and former 1st round draft selection Ezekiel Elliott earlier this year. A key reinforcement at the running back position would certainly make sense for the Cowboys, considering the fact that Tony Pollard is continuing his offseason recovery from a devastating leg injury.

However, the dreams that Cowboys fans had of Henry suiting up for them will apparently go unfulfilled. In fact, it now appears as though Henry will be joining a bitter Cowboys divisional rival.

Philly Sports Network’s Bryan Cameron had this to say on the “trail of breadcrumbs”, especially after the massive extension for QB Jalen Hurts:

“Could there be truth to this rumor? Absolutely,” he wrote of Henry joining the Eagles. “With many teams cutting players and moving on from their big contracts. It would be in the Eagles’ best interest to make a move like this to help secure their offense. While they don’t need a big-name running back in the backfield, the fact of the matter is that they need to win now more than ever after extending Jalen Hurts.”

Additionally, there’s this:

Last season, Henry racked up 1,538 yards and 13 touchdowns.

NFL drops hammer on multiple players for gambling!

The National Football League has strict rules against player gambling, and those rules were recently broken. And now, the NFL is dropping the hammer.

Three NFL players – Quintez Cephus and C.J. Moore of the Detroit Lions and Shaka Toney of the Washington Commanders – have been suspended for an indefinite period of time for having gambled on games during the 2022 season. What’s more, Lions players Stanley Berryhill and Jameson Williams have been banned for the first six games of the upcoming 2023 NFL season for the same infraction.

“A league review uncovered no evidence indicating any inside information was used or that any game was compromised in any way,” a league statement said.

“As a result of an NFL investigation, it came to our attention that a few of our players had violated the league’s gambling policy,” Detroit general manager Brad Holmes said in a statement. “These players exhibited decision making that is not consistent with our organizational values and violates league rules. We have made the decision to part ways with Quintez and C.J. immediately. We are disappointed by the decision making demonstrated by Stanley and Jameson and will work with both players to ensure they understand the severity of these violations and have clarity on the league rules moving forward.”

Use better judgement in the future, guys!

Steelers give crucial offseason review of Kenny Pickett

The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to have found their starting quarterback for the 2023 NFL season. As you may remember, the starter’s role wasn’t guaranteed, as the trio of Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph and Mitchell Trubisky all entered training camp vying for the position. And while it was Trubisky who initially started things off for the 2022 season, he would eventually be replaced by Pickett.

Right now, it’s Pickett’s job to lose. And he’s taking his job seriously, putting in the hard work this offseason in order to ensure that he can enter training camp in the best possible shape later this year. And according to one particularly shining review from his private quarterback coach Tony Racioppi, he’s doing all of that successfully and more.

“I think his arm’s gotten stronger,” he told Chris Mack, Colin Dunlap, and Dorin Dickerson on 93.7 The Fan earlier this week, “between the rotational power stuff that the University of Pittsburgh guys gave him, from a weight room standpoint, and from a fundamental standpoint. There’s more velocity on the ball and he’s throwing the ball deeper better, and those were two goals”.

Pickett’s play in 2022 earned him the Joe Greene Great Performance Award, which is awarded annually by the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America to the team’s standout rookie player. And he’s going to be aiming for bigger and better things in 2023!

Tony Romo sounds off on Dak Prescott

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo now makes his living as an NFL analyst, and he’s known for his astute commentary.

It wasn’t long ago that he certainly wasn’t shy about offering criticism for Prescott’s play in a season that saw him toss a career high in interceptions. And while Romo is still in Prescott’s corner, the former stated plainly that it’s Prescott’s job to overcome those struggles if he intends on being a true franchise quarterback.

“It’s learning, evaluating,” Romo said on Thursday at the annual Invited Celebrity Classic golf tournament. “The year you have the most interceptions, sometimes you have three other years that could have been right around that [high number]. But you have four balls dropped in two games that were easy interceptions, but they didn’t catch them.

“And there were years like the year I had the most [interceptions], six balls you could say should have been caught by our team and so that still falls on you. That’s why you play quarterback because it’s your job to overcome it.”

Prescott has two years remaining on his current already hefty contract, and team owner and general manager Jerry Jones has made no secret that he hopes to have Prescott around for the long haul.

Police ordered to arrest controversial ex-WR Antonio Brown!

It almost seems like there can’t be a single week without former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown generating some controversy. Several months ago, it was the disturbing video of him exposing himself to shocked hotel guests in a swimming pool. It wasn’t too long after that he went after his former teammate Tom Brady’s wife!

Of course, Brown found himself on the wrong side of the law when police showed up at his home to detain him stemming from alleged domestic abuse issues. More shocking allegations were released from the woman who accused Brown of domestic abuse – she says that he sent explicit video of himself to her son.

And now, Brown is in even more legal trouble. A judge has ordered police in Florida to arrest him over unpaid child support to ex Wiltrice Jackson.

Per TMZ:

“According to court documents, the order was issued by a Miami-Dade Coun ty, Fla. judge on April 14 … after Brown had allegedly ducked payments that he had been required to make to his ex, Wiltrice JacksonThe Broward County Sheriff’s Office has been in receipt of the order … a BCSO spokesperson confirmed on Friday morning.”

This is only the latest incident in which Brown has run afoul of the law.

Tom Brady once again teases return

Okay, this couldn’t actually happen….could it?

NFL legend Tom Brady called it quits earlier this year for the second time in as many years, this time promising that his retirement would be for good. But he gave an interesting answer recently that once again has fans talking about whether or not he’ll actually stay away from playing football.

While speaking at at  a technology conference, Brady didn’t say “no” when asked about the possibility of once again coming out of retirement and suiting up, this time for the Miami Dolphins.

“You’re spending a lot of time in Miami. Now you call it home,” a host at the conference asked Brady. “By chance, is there any chance that you’re coming out of retirement and playing for the Fins?”

“I will say, now that I’m not affiliated with any team anymore, and even though I have strong ties with a couple teams, I do have some friends on the Dolphins that I really like,” Brady responded.

“So, I wouldn’t say I necessarily root for them all the time, but I root for my friends to do well, and several of them play for Miami.”

What exactly are the chances that we see Brady lured out of retirement once again?

Philadelphia Eagles have hired Matt Patricia

Well, this probably won’t go over very well with the passionate fan base of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Former New England Patriots assistant coach Matt Patricia, who also had an absolutely disastrous tenure as head coach of the Detroit Lions, has reportedly joined the team as an assistant.
