Jalen Hurts signed biggest contract in NFL history

It was just a matter of time before the Philadelphia Eagles announced the contract extension of their star QB Jalen Hurts

Moments ago, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Hurts signed the biggest NFL contract ever. He inked a 5 years $255 million extension with a no-trade clause.

After a record season for the Philly QB, he has been officially chosen to be the future of the team. With that historic pay check comes a lot of incentives that could make him reach more than $274 million.

His agent Nicole Lynn is also becoming the female who negotiated the biggest contract in sports history.

More details to come.

Kenny Pickett makes bold declaration

The Pittsburgh Steelers had themselves a new starting quarterback in the form of 1st round draft pick Kenny Pickett, who took over from the struggling veteran Mitchell Trubisky earlier in the 2022 NFL season.

Steelers fans are warming up more and more to Pickett as their starting quarterback, and they’re going to like even more what he had to say about how he feels playing for the iconic franchise.

“I’m just happy doing this. I genuinely like doing it. I like being here. In order to be great you have to have a love for the game. I want to be one of the best. I know what I have to do and there’s a lot of things that we need to do as a team to get us to our goals. I feel like it all starts with me and my play. I’ve got to be the guy that takes us there. I’m ready to take it on.”

“We just wanted to find a few days in the offseason, before spring practice started, where we could get down to Florida to work out and hang out off the field,” said Pickett. “Spend some time together and just build that rapport that we’re going to need this season. It was an awesome couple of days. We got a ton of work done and it was awesome to see the guys.”

“In college you spend a lot of time off the field together, whether it’s study hall or on the weekends and everyone’s in the same spot. But in the NFL, it’s kind of hard. Everyone has a family. Everyone’s off doing their own thing. It’s nice whenever you can get guys together and kind of go back to those college, team bonding days where you can really hang out and get to know each other.”

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott warms hearts with latest video

The Dallas Cowboys now feature the 4th franchise winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, which was given earlier this year to quarterback Dak Prescott. The award recognizes an NFL player for his outstanding community service activities off the field, as well as excellence on the field, and is named for the late running back and Pro Football Hall of Famer Walter Payton.

Needless to say, Prescott means a lot to the franchise. In fact, team owner and general manager Jerry Jones went so far as to say that he hopes that his quarterback suits up for the Cowboys for the next decade. Literally for the next decade!

In the meantime, Prescott hasn’t forgotten his roots at Mississippi State, where he played collegiately before being drafted into the NFL by the Cowboys. The University announced recently that they’d be naming the team mascot after Prescott, and he was on hand for Mississippi State’s spring game Saturday to help pass the harness from Jak to Dak, the English bulldog:

Ezekiel Elliott seen practicing with Dak Prescott!

While now-former Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott continues to try and search for his new NFL home, he was recently seen practicing with a good friend named Dak Prescott. The pair were teammates with the Cowboys for years, and it certainly affected Prescott when the Cowboys made the call to release him.

Prescott had this to say when Elliott was cut:

“I really can’t imagine taking the field without him,” Prescott said. “It’s something that I don’t know if it’s completely hit me yet.”

“It’s tough. He’s a brother, playing the game with a brother to start our NFL career and share so many memories,” he continued. “We grew up as men with this organization.”

“Obviously, I’ve talked to him. I’m hurt. I’m sure he is,” Prescott said. “But it’s more important for me to just support him. I know he’s got more opportunities coming his way. I love that guy, I’m proud of him.”

Some are speculating that there is actually a chance that the Cowboys could elect to bring back Elliott at some point.

Jim Nantz shares true thoughts on Tony Romo!

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current CBS analyst Tony Romo may have been getting a lot of criticism lately, but don’t count Jim Nantz among his detractors.

Romo’s broadcast partner in the booth even went so far as to say that the campaign against Romo was “misinformation”.

“I think there was a little bit of a misinformation attempt there to portray him in a not-so-favorable light,” Nantz told SI.com. “It was very disappointing. It really got to me … And for the life of me, I didn’t understand it.”

He would later continue:

“I have never had better chemistry with anybody in my career,” Nantz told the Post.

“Tony is the best. He’s the absolute best. And he’s also one of my best friends. I love the guy. And when somebody starts questioning our chemistry, there’s an agenda there,” Nantz said. “There is nothing wrong with our chemistry.

It certainly appears as though Romo has a staunch defender in Jim Nantz despite what the naysayers whose voices have grown louder in recent months would have to say. Do you agree with him?

Aaron Rodgers to New York Jets trade in danger!

This whole saga is just starting to get a bit silly.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has made his desire clear that he wants to move on from the only NFL home that he’s ever known and suit up for the New York Jets, which would make him the second high profile Packers legendary quarterback to immediately throw on the different green uniform of the Jets; the first being Brett Favre.

But the deal that would have sent him to New York has been put on hold. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the two sides haven’t even spoken since the NFL Owner’s Meetings in Phoenix last month!

“My understanding is there hasn’t been a whole lot of conversation, if any, over the last couple of weeks going back to the owners’ meetings,” Schefter said.

“And so both sides now appear to be dug in, and we’ll see whether or not anything changes as we head up to the draft.”

What’s more, according to ESPN’s Mike Greenberg earlier this week on “The Pat McAfee Show”, Rodgers has told the Jets not to rush a deal.

“I’ve heard that Aaron has sent signals to the Jets that there’s no reason for them to rush, that he’s not coming until May anyway. So they’re not missing out on anything right now. So they should hold out as long as it takes and that ultimately they won’t wind up having to trade the 13th pick in the draft, which is what I think this ultimately comes down to,” he said.

Green Bay’s reported asking price for Rodgers includes a second-round pick in this year’s draft and a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Skip Bayless insults the Dallas Cowboys over title drought

It’s no secret that despite their mantra of “America’s Team”, the Dallas Cowboys have not won the Super Bowl since 1995. Team owner and general manager Jerry Jones has made no bones about the fact that he’s not happy with that fact, and he knows that because he’s on the wrong side of age 80, time is running out for him to see his team accomplish football’s ultimate glory at least one more time in his lifetime.

In the meantime, sports commentator Skip Bayless had a blunt answer while fielding fan questions as to which NBA franchise would be the equivalent of the Cowboys – a highly valuable and popular team that hasn’t won anything of note in quite a while.

His answer was brutal:

“The truth is … there are no NBA Cowboys. (There’s) nothing like the Cowboys,” Bayless somberly declared. “(They’re) the most valuable team in the world, run by the most famous sports owner ever. This team hasn’t even made it to its conference championship game in 27 years. The Cowboys are one of one.”

“My Cowboys haven’t even been back to an NFC Championship game since January of 1996. That’s 27 years ago,” Bayless said. “At least LeBron’s Lakers won a championship in 2020, odd as it was, (an) asterisk-laden bubble title. Not a really legit championship in my book, but a championship nonetheless.”

As much as we may not like his comments, there’s unfortunately truth to what he said. How long until the Cowboys are back on top of the NFL world by winning a Super Bowl?

Steelers to sign standout LB Tanner Muse

Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan has added a special teams standout to his roster.

Former Seattle Seahawks LB Tanner Muse, who played in every game for the Seahawks last season, is signing with the Steelers, according to multiple reports. The news was first reported by Tom Pelissero.

Muse, who was drafted by the Raiders in the 3rd round of the 2020 NFL Draft, never saw action with them. He would later make his way to Seattle, taking 100 special teams snaps in 2021. Last season, he had 16 tackles and one pass defensed.

Cowboys have requirement for Michael Gallup in 2023

Even though the Dallas Cowboys made the call to bring aboard wide receiver Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans to pair along with CeeDee Lamb as weapons for quarterback Dak Prescott, they still have big plans for Michael Gallup in 2023.

Gallup, whom the Cowboys selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, tore his ACL and appeared in only nine games during the 2021 season. Last year, he was limited to just 39 passes for 424 yards and four touchdowns.

However, according to The Dallas Morning News, head coach Mike McCarthy has told Gallup that he’ll be more heavily featured in the offensive attack this season.

“I think Michael Gallup has a great chance to take the next step,” team executive vice president Stephen Jones said during the NFL Scouting Combine in February. “Know what he can do. Coming off a major ACL, I think it’s pretty typical, you know, that guys improve, [and] from the first year to the second year is usually the jump. And I fully expect Michael to do that, and then I think we’ve got a good competitive group after that. Can we look at maybe improving it? Absolutely.”

Gallup racked up 424 receiving yards along with four touchdowns on 39 catches during the 2022 NFL season. He’s averaged a total of 53 receptions for 819 yards and four touchdowns in his four seasons.

What kind of season are you expecting from Gallup for the Cowboys in 2023?

Bud Dupree will not return to Steelers!

For fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers hoping for a reunion with linebacker Bud Dupree, you’ll have to go back to the archives and watch video footage of him, because he’s unfortunately not returning.

He’s signed a one year contract with the Atlanta Falcons, according to multiple reports. Per Ian Rapoport, the deal is worth up to $5 million.

Fans will remain fond of Dupree, who spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Steelers after they selected him in the 1st round of the 2015 NFL Draft. During his time in the black and yellow, he racked up a total of 39.5 sacks, 65 quarterback hits, 231 tackles and 8 forced fumbles in 81 games played.

He had just been released by the Tennessee Titans after having played two years of the five-year, $82.5 million contract that he signed.
