Baywatch Heads to the Big Screen

Baywatch is set to become a comedy for the big screen.

After its decade of small screen success in the 90s, now Baywatch is headed to film, reports Variety.

Paramount Pictures has hired Jeremy Garelick to both rewrite the script into a comedy and make his directing debut.

The story will include two candidates who will challenge the typical lifeguard stereotypes, and will try to save lives alongside their perfectly chiselled coworkers.

The studio would like to see the film turn into a franchise if all goes well. The creators of the television series are also involved in production.

Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra made their big breakthroughs starring on Baywatch.
