Beach Boys to reunite for 50th anniversary?

Former band member Brian Wilson is considering a reunion tour.

Despite recent rumors that he may soon be retiring, Brian Wilson has revealed that he is now considering a reunion tour with his former band, The Beach Boys, in honor of their 50th anniversary, reports BBC 6Music.

"I’m considering it," Wilson said. "I don’t know yet, but I’m considering it. Nothing’s really holding me back. I just don’t know if I want to be around those guys you know. They’re zany guys. They’re crazy."

For almost 20 years, Wilson worked as a solo artist. Beginning in the mid-1960s, the Beach Boys founder refused to tour with the band, suffering from mental illness including depression.

He hasn’t performed with his former band since 1996, when the group recorded the album Stars And Stripes Vol. 1

Wilson is currently on tour to promote his newest solo album, Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin. He will tour North American in June before heading to the U.K. in September.
