Beck talks new material

The alt indie icon plans to release new material sometime, somewhere.

Beck is one musician who is never idle. He is always working on one project or another and has a long list of collaborations under his belt, including work with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Feist and Wilco.

The artist revealed he has been working on a new album. He told Pitchfork: "I’ve been working on a record for a few years; I recorded it in the fall of 2008. I’ve worked on it a little bit here or there but it’s the kind of thing where I turn around and two years have gone by and it starts to get less relevant to what’s happening at large."

He explained what he meant by less relevant: "At this point, five other bands may have done something that felt really exciting and new two years ago. Like, the title of the record was going to be Rococo and now Arcade Fire have a song called Rococo. But I’m sure the music is going to come out."

Beck has the freedom of being label-less. He may release new songs or even an album on his website. He promises something new will be released by the end of the summer.
