However, the star reportedly confirmed in an interview that this was not the case and that he had a great time at the ceremony!
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, when Affleck was asked if he cared about the thousands of comments made about him following the sharing of this video (which was then turned into several memes, we must remind you!), the actor said that nothing is what it seems at first glance.
“No! I had a great time at the Grammys! My wife was going, and I thought, ‘ Well, there’s going to be some good music. It might be fun,” he corrected before explaining why his attitude didn’t seem very positive.
It was at this point that he explained that Trevor Noahthe host of the evening, had caught him off guard during a skit!
“I saw Trevor Noah approaching and I thought, ‘ Oh, my God,'” Ben said, adding that he really didn’t want to appear on camera.
“They were framing us in that shot, but I didn’t know they were shooting. I leaned over to her (Lopez) and said, ‘ As soon as they start shooting, I’m going to walk away from you and leave you next to Trevor to which she said, ‘ You better not leave!” clarified Affleck, lifting the veil on the famous moment captured at the Grammys.
“It’s a husband and wife thing!” he added.
However, Ben Affleck still admitted in the same interview that he had already gone to events in the past in a drunken state, and on several occasions…
Recall that in March 2017, Affleck had revealed that he had undergone rehab to combat his addiction to alcohol , and that in 2018, the actor had relapsed.
