Proving that German is just a state of mind, cities around the world will dig out their lederhosen to celebrate Oktoberfest this fall. Travel website Cheapflights.com has compiled a top ten list of Oktoberfest celebrations taking place outside of Germany.
In first place is the Ontario city of Kitchener-Waterloo, where, from October 7 to 16, the whole family can enjoy over 40 cultural events, including the world’s most dangerous bocce ball tournament.
In Hong Kong, the second place winner, the celebration is called the Marco Polo German Bierfest and runs for three straight weeks, from October 21 to November 12.
Rounding out the top three is Blumenau, Brazil, where over 700,000 guests converge on the sunny Vila Germânica (German Village) from October 6 to 23.
Brisbane, Australia takes fourth place, followed by Stockholm Sweden in fifth. Cincinnati, Ohio; Dublin, Ireland; Denver, Colorado; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; and Windhoek, Namibia finish out the top ten.
