According to several inside sources, the two stars, who married in 2008, will be changing their names in order to keep the Knowles name alive.
Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, will now be known as Shawn Knowles-Carter, while his wife will become Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.
A source revealed, "They want to keep Knowles because Beyonce’s parents didn’t have any sons and they’re keen to keep the name going strong, especially if they don’t produce any children themselves."
Earlier this week, the Knowles family announced that Beyoncé’s parents, Tina and Mathew, were divorcing after 29 years of marriage.
Rumours of Mathew’s infidelity began circulating last October when Alexandra Wright claimed that he was the father of her unborn child. Mathew Knowles denied the allegation.
Tina and Mathew Knowles, who also have another daughter, Solange, are preparing for "an ugly fight" in court.
