Pop star Beyoncé, who turns 30 on September 4, managed to steal the show last night (August 28) at the MTV Video Music Awards, officially announcing that she and husband Jay-Z, 41, were expecting their first child, reports People.
This time, it wasn’t one of her legendary performances that had the crowd talking, but the swell of her pregnancy clearly evident when she cradled belly.
“I have a surprise,” the Crazy in Love singer told gala photographers, as she posed to reveal her baby bump.
“I’m happy to say it’s true,” her representative confirmed.
Later in the evening, Beyoncé performed her song Love on Top on stage at the Nokia Theatre, asking the audience at the beginning of the song, "I want you to stand up on your feet. I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside me."
At the end of her performance, with a huge smile the singer unbuttoned her sparkling jacket, and rubbed her belly.
“They told friends in the last month," a source said. "She’s never been happier. Seriously it’s all she’s been waiting for. And Jay is like an excited kid. They’re adorable."
