Big Winner for Critics is No Country for Old Men

The film No Country for Old Men, directed by the Coen brothers, won the award for Best Picture at the Critics’ Choice Awards.

The Broadcast Film Critics Association chose the movie, No Country for Old Men, starring Javier Bardem and Tommy Lee Jones as the Best Picture at the 13th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards which was on Monday evening. The movie also won for Best Director (Joel and Ethan Coen) and Best Supporting Actor (Javier Bardem).

Daniel Day-Lewis won the award for Best Actor in the movie There Will Be Blood, while Julie Christie won Best Actress in Away From Her. Amy Ryan’s performance won for Best Supporting Actress in the movie Gone Baby Gone.

The cast of Hairspray won for Best Acting Ensemble and Nikki Blonsky won for Best Young Actress. The movie Juno won in the categories, Best Comedy and Best Screenplay.

The Critics’ Choice Awards was not covered by Writers Guild of America contracts, therefore, the screenwriter’s strike did not affect this event. There were many celebrities such as George Clooney, Don Cheadle and Katie Holmes that attended the event. It was hosted by D.L. Hughley, and took place at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
