According to a complaint sent to the Los Angeles Police Department, which TMZ had access to, Elysabeth Cherniak, Thornton’s fourth wife’s sister, accused the star of harassing her for nearly two years.
Cherniak, who initially thought that Thornton was trying to seduce her, said she received increasing amounts of threatening and insulting e-mails.
Police are currently asking for supplementary evidence from the plaintiff to verify charges brought against the 52-year-old actor.
A spokesperson for the Mr. Woodcock star immediately denied the accusations. According to him, Elysabeth Cherniak fabricated the entire story. The rep declared, "Billy doesn’t use e-mail and never has. Anyone who knows him would know that."
Billy Bob Thornton was married to Pietra Cherniak from 1993 to 1997, and the couple has two children.
