Jesse L. Martin will be playing the part of singer Marvin Gaye.
The movie will be directed and written by Lauren Goodman, based on the book by Steven Turner, Trouble Man. The movie will concentrate on the last few years of the singer’s life, his departure from Motown, his exile to Europe and his relationship with Freddy Cousaert (Gandolfini). Cousaert worked with Marvin Gaye on his most successful album, Midnight Love.
The movie has a budget of $15 million and will start filming on April 15 in Massachusetts, Belgium and Los Angeles.
While waiting for this movie to get underway, Gandolfini is completing the movie by Spike Lee, Miracle at St. Anna.
