Bisphenol A now banned in France

Bottles containing bisphenol A are now banned in France.

France followed Canada’s lead and now prohibits the sale of feeding bottles for children that contain bisphenol A (BPA).

This substance is contained in the plastic and promotes the onset of certain cancers, obesity, diabetes and infertility. Recently, researchers also found that BPA was harmful to the brain development of fetuses and babies.

In addition, it has been shown that bisphenol A affects how the intestines function and is very harmful to pregnant women. BPA is also transmitted to the unborn baby through the umbilical cord. Recent studies also established a link between BPA and cardiovascular disease.

France’s goal is to arrive at a complete bisphenol A ban in food containers for children under three, as is the case now in Denmark.

In Canada, the bisphenol A situation is being followed closely. This substance is now on the list of dangerous products and cannot be used to make baby bottles and pacifiers.
