Björk rejoins Michel Gondry for Crystalline

The duo’s quirky video collaboration has typically strange but beautiful result.

Longtime creative cohorts Björk and Michel Gondry have released Crystalline, the groundbreaking first video from the Icelandic songstress’s ambitious new album/multimedia project, Biophilia.

The hallucinogenic video is a "visual collage of crystals and laser beams growing from the surface of a strange planet,” reports Pedestrian.

The famed French director has worked with Björk on numerous video projects in the past, including Human Behaviour in 1993 and Declare Independence in 2007.

Gondry has also created music videos for countless other artists and bands, including Radiohead, Foo Fighters, The Rolling Stones, Daft Punk, Kanye West, Beck, The White Stripes and Paul McCartney.

His best known films include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) and The Green Hornet (2011).

Björk’s Biophilia will be launched on September 27. It marks her first album since the release of Volta in 2007 and the eighth time the duo have collaborated since she left The Sugarcubes in 1992.
