Black Eyed Peas headline Quebec’s Festival d’été

The Festival d’été de Québec 2010 boasts an impressive lineup.

Festival organizer Daniel Gelinas’ press conference just wrapped up. He left the podium to the sound of applause after announcing an exceptional program schedule for this year’s Festival d’été de Québec. Headlining acts include the Black Eyed Peas, Santana, Iron Maiden, Arcade Fire and Rush. There will be a huge opening show featuring French songs on July 8.

The band the Black Eyed Peas is without a doubt the biggest coup scored by this festival. They have been at the top of the charts for years and everybody has heard their song I Gotta Feeling. Now fans can dance the night away on the Plains of Abraham on Friday, July 16.

Another big name to confirm his presence is legendary Mexican guitarist Santana. He will perform for the crowd on Tuesday, July 13 on the main Bell stage on the plains. Another popular guitarist, Steve Winwood, will warm up the crowd before the main event starring Carlos Santana.

Metal fans are going to be really spoiled at the festival on Friday, July 9. They can headbang the night away on the plains while watching Iron Maiden with  none other than Dream Theater as their opening act. This will no doubt be one of the most popular nights of the festival.

Quebec indie favourites Arcade Fire will also have a turn on the main stage on Monday, July 12. Former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett will perform at the same time in Francophonie Park. If fans miss Hackett, they have a chance to catch him again with Rush  on the main stage on Thursday, July 15.

Other music styles are represented during the festival too. Fans can catch Jimmy Cliff, Billy Talent, Passion Pit, The Cat Empire and Bedouin Soundclash.

Festival passes cost $44 during the presale period starting tomorrow morning (April 28) at participating Metro grocers. Starting May 1, passes will cost $54.

The 43rd edition of the Festival d’été de Québec takes place from July 8-18, 2010.
