Black Keys already finished new album

American rockers find time between tour dates to record new album.

Guitarist and singer Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys has confirmed that their follow-up album to 2010’s Brothers has been completed – with the help of Danger Mouse – and will be released later this year.

In a interview with Spin, Auberbach offered details of the forthcoming album: “[it’s] the fastest we’ve ever played.” He also warned that the album “doesn’t sound like Brothers. It doesn’t have that open soul feel to it. It’s way more driving and the tempos are really fast.”

Drawing inspiration from revered punk bands like The Clash and The Cramps, the opening track  Lonely Boy is described by the guitarist as “pretty raw.” Little Black Submarine on the other hand, channels hard rock maestros, Black Sabbath.

The album’s title, complete tracklist and exact release date are still to be announced but eager fans can get their fix of the Keys as they continue their exhaustive U.S. tour. An itinerary can be found at the Black Keys’ official website.
