Blake Shelton was named Entertainer of the Year at the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards last night (01.11.12).
The ‘Honey Bee’ singer and mentor on TV show ‘The Voice’ took home three trophies, including the biggest of the night, at the show in Nashville, Tennessee.
He said: "I’m not sure how this happened, but I freakin’ love it! I love country music more than anybody in this room."
Blake, 36, also took home Male Vocalist of the Year and, alongside his wife, Miranda Lambert, was handed the Song of the Year prize for their duet ‘Over You’.
In an emotional moment, Blake talked about how much the song – written about the passing of his brother Richie – meant to him, bringing Miranda to tears.
He said: "I lost my brother in a car wreck when I was 14-years-old. My dad always told me, ‘Son, you should write a song about your brother.’
"I lost my dad in January, and it’s so amazing to me that tonight, even after he’s gone, he’s still right. I just needed the right person to write this song with and the right person to sing it."
Another notable win was by Little Big Town, who won single of the year for ‘Pontoon’ and Thompson Square, who ended a five year run by Sugarland, winning the Vocal Duo category.
Hunter Hayes won New Artist of the Year, Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw took home musical event of the year for ‘Party Like a Rock Star’ and Toby Keith won video of the year for his ‘Red Solo Cup’. Willie Nelson took home a Lifetime Achievement award, and performed his track ‘On the Road Again’.
The awards were hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood and saw a huge number of stars attend, including Taylor Swift, Faith Hill, Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown Band and Keith Urban.
