Blink-182 recording new album

First new music in almost nine years will be featured during summer concert tour.

Pop punk band Blink-182 is almost finished their newest album, which means they will have new music to play for fans when they head out on tour with My Chemical Romance this summer, reports Billboard.

Drummer Travis Barker estimates that the as-yet-untitled album is about "70 percent finished." Once completed, it will be the band’s first new release since their 2003 self-titled album.

"That’s what we’re most excited about," said Barker. "It’s the first time there will be new music in nine years."

"We have until July 31st to hand the record in, and I think we’ll use every single day until then, as always," noted singer-bassist Mark Hoppus. Currently, the band is still churning out new material as inspiration strikes.

"We thought we were closing in on the end, and literally a week ago we pumped out a whole set of stuff that I think will be some of the best on the album," added singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge. "Recording is never really finished. You slide or limp into home base."

The summer concert tour – which kicks off August 5 in New Jersey – also promises to be a bigger spectacle than previous Blink-182 shows, as the band is planning a much larger stage show.
