Bloc Party is back on

After a two year hiatus, Bloc Party will reconvene to record music for a new album.

According to an interview with NME, Bloc Party guitarist, Russell Lissack, says the U.K. group took a break in order to indulge other side projects they had been wanting to explore. Included in these was singer Kele Okereke’s solo album, The Boxer (2010).

Lissack claims that the band will officially reunite in the fall when they enter the studio to record their fourth LP:

“Kele and I started working on Bloc Party stuff. We’re having a bit of a break until the festivals are over, because people have commitments during the summer, but we’re going to get back properly in September and sit in a rehearsal studio to work on new band material.”

The guitarist reports that there are seven or eight songs already written for the follow up to 2008’s, Intimacy, but that the band will “most likely not” play any shows in 2011.
