Blondie announces new album

American New Wave band launches first album since 2003.

Eight years after 2003’s The Curse of Blondie, fans of the American New Wave band will be delighted to know that Panic of Girls, the band’s ninth studio album, has a planned digital release for May 30, reports Spinner.

Frontwoman Debbie Harry, icon of the 1970s and ’80s, enjoyed a successful solo career after leaving the group in 1982. In 1997, Blondie reunited in 1997 and enjoyed renewed popularity as they embarked on an international tour for two years. The band is still going strong.

Faithful fans can see the video for the track Mother, a tribute inspired by a New York nightclub popular in the 1990s. The first studio track from their forthcoming album Panic of Girls is available for free to fans from the download page on the band’s website.

Zack Condon of Beirut is a guest on the ablum, which was produced by Jeff Saltzman (the Killers, Fischerspooner) and Kato Khandwala (Paramore, Papa Roach).

In the U.K., a collector’s pack will be available June 1, and the CD on July 4. North American release dates have yet to be confirmed.
