Bono To Receive Knighthood
According to the Canadian Press, Bono, who is the leader of the rock group U2, will become a Knight of the British Empire. The artist is well known for his support of human rights around the world.
The official ceremony will take place in January at the British Embassy in Dublin, Ireland.
The Sunday Bloody Sunday singer will not, however, gain the title of Sir, as that title is reserved for citizens of the United Kingdom.
According to Bono’s spokesperson, the star is very happy to learn of the honour. The 46 year-old singer hopes that this will bring more attention to his campaign against poverty in Africa.
