If there’s one team in the NHL that has interested CH fans since the start of the playoffs, it’s the Florida Panthers, and not for their style of play.
The Canadiens have held the Panthers’ top pick in the upcoming draft since the Ben Chiarot trade last year.
Just when the season seemed to be in the bag for Paul Maurice’s team, they won six of their last eight games to clinch the final playoff spot.
All this after Keith Tkachuk criticized the team’s sluggishness. Since then, the Floridian team has played with no qualms, pushing the Bruins to the limit in the final game.

With a Boston win, the CH would secure the 17th pick in the next auction, and if not, they’d still have to wait.
The Panthers caused a surprise by winning Game 7.
The Panthers took a 2-0 lead over a Boston team that had no composure. The Bruins seemed to have shut down, and Brandon Montour and Sam Reinhart took advantage.
The fans at TD Garden booed their players, whipping them as they scored 3 unanswered goals. David Krejci, Tyler Bertuzzi and David Pastrnak scored in the second and early third to take a solid lead.
They held the lead until the end, when Brandon Montour brought both teams back to square one with a goal to force overtime.
And Carter Verhaeghe put an end to the debate by beating Jeremy Swayman.

– Interesting reflection.
It’s so nuts how a goalie who just had a historically good Vezina season can get replaced in a Game 7 and get outplayed by his backup. The NHL playoffs are wild

– Hard to believe.
The Lightning gave up five picks for Jeannot who had four points and was a scratch in the playoffs.
I said it when happened. Really bad trade. https://t.co/jRldjAz2fR
