Boy George confirms Culture Club reunion

Former frontman confirms band reunion in 2012.

Karma Chameleon singer Boy George confirmed he will be reuniting with his ’80s pop band, Culture Club, in 2012, for both a concert tour and accompanying album.

During an interview on BBC Breakfast, the androgynous singer revealed that the reunited Culture Club would "be doing a proper sort of huge worldwide tour … and a new album."

In the meantime, George has been busy working on his new solo album, Ordinary Alien, his first new music since 2002’s U Can Never B2 Straight. Ordinary Alien is due out tomorrow (February 1), with 14 new tracks produced by Boy George and Kinky Roland.

George will also be headlining in the U.K.-based Here and Now Tour, a collaborative show featuring stars from the 1980s. Here and Now was founded in 2001 and has continued to tour with a changing roster of performers ever since.

After a solo show at the Isle of Wight Festival on June 6, George will join the Here and Now Tour on June 24, describing it as "kind of a precursor for what I’m doing with Culture Club in 2012."

He is currently scheduled to play seven U.K. shows with the tour, alongside other ’80s stars Jason Donovan, Jimmy Somerville, Belinda Carlisle, Midge Ure, Pepsi & Shirlie, and Flock of Seagulls.
