Brad Pitt in a Millennium remake?

Brad Pitt and Carey Mulligan are in talks to star in the American remake of Millennium.

Brad Pitt and Carey Mulligan are set to star in the American adaptation of the Swedish trilogy Millennium.

The first film, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, will be directed by David Fincher who already worked with Brad Pitt in 1995’s Se7ven.

Pitt would play the role of Mikael Blomkvist, the trilogy’s journalist hero who embarks on a journey around Sweden to solve the mysterious disappearance of a young girl. He gets help along the way from Lisbeth Salander, a young punk who is also a computer whiz. This role would be played by Carey Mulligan.

The original films were directed by Niels Arden Oplev. The first film was released in 2009 and earned $100 million worldwide. The second film, The Girl Who Played with Fire, came out last December while the third instalment, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest, hits theatres tomorrow (April 30).

Brad Pitt is still waiting on a release date for The Tree of Life with Sean Penn. As for Carey Mulligan, she can be seen next in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps coming to theatres on September 24.
