Brad Pitt joins The Big Short

Brad Pitt will star in and produce ‘The Big Short’.

The financial drama – which also stars Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling – is another adaptation of a Michael Lewis nonfiction book, and after the success of ‘Moneyball’, it is no surprise that the 51-year-old actor wants to join the cast.

Adam McKay, the director of ‘Anchorman’, has been developing this drama for a while, basing it on ‘The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine’, a book about several key people who made millions after creating a toxic credit bubble that led to the global economic meltdown between 2007 and 2010.

Adam will both write and direct the upcoming film and is believed to be looking for a group of big-time movie stars to fill the film’s main roles. However, there is not any indication as of yet on which parts each star already signed up will play.

Brad and DeDe Gardner want to produce the film, which is backed by Paramount studios, under the actor’s Plan B company.

Brad was last seen in ‘Fury’ and has since worked on ‘By The Sea’ with his wife, Angelina Jolie, as both actor and director. Christian is currently on screen playing Moses in ‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’ whilst Ryan has just finished filming alongside Russell Crowe for the thriller, ‘The Nice Guys’.

No start date has been confirmed for ‘The Big Short’ as of yet.
