After the success of the Twilight franchise, Summit Entertainment will be plunging back into the realm of vampires, but this time, with the most famous one of all, Dracula.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the company has acquired Vlad, whose screenplay was penned by Charlie Hunnam. The story follows young Dracula, also known as Vlad the Impaler, the man behind the epic horror legend.
Brad Pitt will produce the project with Dede Gardner through their company, Plan B Entertainment. Pitt is no stranger to the world of vamps. In 1994, he shared the screen with Tom Cruise in Interview with the Vampire.
Summit is negotiating with Anthony Mandler, who is set to be the film’s new director. Mandler is known as the director behind Rihanna and Jay-Z’s videos.
For the starring role, there was word that a new actor would be hired.
In the meantime, Pitt is still awaiting a release date for the sci-fi drama The Tree of Life with Sean Penn. He will soon be shooting the film The Lost City of Z by James Gray (Two Lovers, The Yards).
