Bradley Cooper signs on as rookie cop

Hangover actor will police Ryan Gosling in crime drama.

The Hangover’s Bradley Cooper has just signed a deal to star alongside Ryan Gosling in the crime drama The Place Beyond the Pines, reports Variety.

Derek Cianfrance, writer and director of Blue Valentine, will direct the script, which he co-wrote with Ben Coccio (Zero Day).

Gosling, who starred in Blue Valentine, will play a pro motorcycle rider who begins robbing banks in order to support his newborn son, and crosses path with a rookie police officer, played by Cooper.

Filming will begin July 25 in New York.

Cooper skyrocketed to stardom due to the 2009 blockbuster comedy The Hangover, which currently has a sequel in theaters, and a third installment reportedly on the way.

This year, the busy actor stars in the successful techno-thriller Limitless based on the 2001 novel The Dark Fields by Alan Glynn, and is set to star in the thriller The Grey directed by Joe Carnahan.
