Brian Wilson Finishes George Gershwin Works

Unfinished songs written by George Gershwin will be getting the final touches from Brian Wilson.

Wilson, of the Beach Boys, who has written many popular songs, will attempt to finish pieces that Gershwin left undone.  The American classical composer died more than 70 years ago.

Wilson was granted permission to work with the Gershwin catalogue.  The American composer died suddenly at the age of 38, and left nearly a dozen unfinished songs behind.

For Wilson, the authorization to work on Gershwin pieces is an honour.  Logically, the works will remain instrumental, however the singer isn’t ruling out the possibility of transforming something into a pop song.  According to the Los Angeles Times, Wilson plans to release an album dedicated solely to Gershwin compositions.

Brian Wilson wrote the classic hits, Surfin’ USA, I Get Around, Wouldn’t It Be Nice and Fun, Fun, Fun with the Beach Boys.  The most famous Gershwin song would likely be Rhapsody in Blue.
