Brigitte Bardot back in fashion

‘60s sex symbol licenses ready-to-wear collection in her name.

For the first time, French actress and ‘60s sex symbol Brigitte Bardot has allowed her name to be used for a fashion collection, reports Fashion Mag France.

The legendary actress, now 77, signed her very first licensing agreement a year ago with the Ternay company and other investors, allowing the use of her name and image for the fashion label.

For the debut summer collection, designer Sarah Ohana said the brand focused on three areas: the beach, evening wear, and gingham.

The brand unveiled some 200 styles inspired by the actress: gingham dresses, retro-chic swimwear, crochet dresses, shorts, everything is there … priced from 100 to 400 euros ($134 to $535).

Bardot is known as a style icon and huge fashion influence, having popularized the Bardot neckline – deeply scooped and wide to expose both shoulders, bikini swimwear, gingham clothes, and short shorts.

The ready-to-wear collection already has many pre-orders and part of the profits from the capsule collection will go to the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, which she founded in 1986 having become an ardent animal rights activist.

Bardot retired from the entertainment industry in 1973. During her career in show business, she starred in 47 films, performed in numerous musical shows, and recorded 80 songs. She was awarded the Légion d’honneur in 1985 but refused to accept it.
